Electric Power Steering - any DIY solutions out there?

I have seen there are a couple of EPS systems out there - Cityracer has an FJ40 specific version which looks very nice, but is a little over my budget at this point. Has anyone attempted to roll their own using a Toyota or Kia ESP unit? Search bought up a nice how to from @wngrog on the...

Cleaning up the hood, the center rib looks like it is glued on? As I see no evidence of spot welds. Would seam caulking material be appropriate, after cleaning and derusting?

Sloshing sound in 97 Series 80 Drivers side sill

Driving during some heavy rain over the last few days, kept hearing a sloshing sound as I pulled to a stop or accelerated from a stop ( if you can call it accelerate). Thought perhaps the doors as the window seals are not good. Checked the drain holes and all doors dry as a bone. It was the...

While attempting to get my truck started, having previously removed and cleaned up the distributor. I did find some white paint on the BB. I know some folks have a hard time finding the BB. it looks like I put the distributor rotor in 180 degrees out. Which is why it would not start…DOH the...

76 FJ40 fuel pipe elbow location

Does the fuel elbow by the tank go through the grommet, or does it stay all on the top side. Looking at this the highest point seems like it would reduce the amount of gas available? Or does the line being full of gas make this not an issue and it will siphon.?

76 FJ40 gas tank pads missing?

I just drained and pulled the gas tank to discover there are no rubber pads, is this normal? The tank has been painted on the outside and while there is a small amount of surface rust inside, not worth doing a lining, in my opinion. I will derust and paint the floor and replace all the hoses and...
