So I've been collecting parts for the past 3 years to do this. I finally have almost everything I need. Still need my Aisan hubs back from Chuckster and I need to order or find a set of 27 spline longfield axles and a small 12v compressor.

The hysteer arms and rods are 4x4 labs. Arb locker I bought from Bill (Sputnick) and a set of Marlin super axle seals. Probably going to rebuild the calipers and buy new rotors since it's all going to be apart.

Normally I'd post this in the 40 section but I thought it would be a little more entertaining in here.

Let the games begin. Goal is to have it ready by Cullowhee which I don't even know if I will make. I'll take as many pics as possible.

that is going to be a bling front axle Marshall..... good luck with the build and let me know if you need me to sneak over to chucks and take back you hubs let me know :D

Are you going to paint it to match your engine? Can we expect any custom fabricated armour of the highest Troll standards on this axle?

Nice, that's going to be like my axle except I have 30 splines LF's and an aussie instead of the ARB. I wish I would have done the ARB.

If you are going all new brakes, I bought the 4runner calipers and new rotors from Marlin Crawler. They stop my big ass tires great!

Are you using that front axle you got from me for this?

Will do. Yeah something says I'm gonna need a late night extraction to get those back. Maybe we can get funded by Richard. I understand he had some parts stolen and sold through the black monkey market. I pretty sure Misty would be willing to provide good intelligence on when he was at garage sales or checking the Esso Club in the mornings looking for loose change that may have fallen out of unsuspecting freshmen girls pockets. This would give Misty a good chance of keeping him home during UC events so he could practice baby talk and how to change diapers on plastic test babies.

You also might want to go ahead and get ARP knuckle and hub studs while you are at it. Also get the hub gear set from Bobby as well. He didn't have those available when I bought my set, so during my next knuckle job I will be installing those along with the new HD axle seals.

Have fun, this was the very first job I tackled when I got my cruiser.

No I have your axle saved for a rainy day. It needs a lot of work. My current housing is SOA and cut and turned so I will be using it again. I also have a new axle rebuild kit in hand and all new u-bolts. The stock calipers work pretty well I'm just gonna replace the seals in them and hone them out. Also this is a good time to use the blast cabinet.

Got them already. I don't think I'll need a hub set. I don't wheel that hard.

I have thought about cutting the fill plug out and welding it up higher as well as a little more bracing on the housing. Since it's coming off.

I have a set of Warn if you're interested. Or Chuck can put them on his.

Hub's

Should have working Asin hubs as I am replacing with Warn on BT-60 just not sure where they are at the moment. But I can check if you want them. Free for the Big Gay!

Personally I'd keep the aisins over the warns. Thanks for the offer though. I've got a set.

I've heard they are better (stronger), but I have a set from Scotts 72 axle, and a set from the 70 donor.

Looks like it's going to be a good build-up Marshall. The only thing I would do differnt is the birfs. If you're going to have to buy new birfs anyway, I would definitely get a set of 30 spline inners/birfs from Bobby Long - you won't regret it, they'll be the last birfs you ever buy! Then get the hub gears because they are cheap insurance. If your hub gear breaks and strips the splines on the birfield, they won't warranty the birf - unless it's a chromo hub gear.

And you might as well get the ARP knuckle and hub studs while you're rebuilding the axle too.

I ran 42" Iroks and a healthy V8 on my FJ40 front axle with 30 spline birfs/inners, chromo hub gears, and ARp knuckle and hub studs with no problems.

Good stuff. I bought a set of Newfields a while back. I'm gonna just use them. I cannot imagine with the kind of wheeling I do breaking a 27 spline axle.

The arms I bought came with the ARP studs.

You might have a problem with that pitman arm. With lukes arms you usually need a flat pitman, unless your sag box is mounted really high.
