Hi:
Anybody swapped an 80 series engine into a 100 series or vice versa?

I may have found a 1HD-FTE and am wondering how easily it will bolt into a 1997 80 series. Comes with transmission, but I think drop is on the wrong side, so I would need to bin the 100 series transmission and use the 80 series

Wondering if they will bolt up.

Those fine folks over on the 80 series forum have a V8 swap thread that is getting close to 1800 posts.

I am fully aware anything is possible, but again wondering what transmissions that engine bolts up to. The 1HD has been Inc Coasters and Land cruisers in its various iterations for decades.

Just saying that IMO the frame is different for the V8 and the FTE. At least the torison bars are different length. Not sure if this has any effect on the weight carrying capacity / engine mounts placement, etc..
The 1HD-FT was the final diesel engine in the 80, the FTE was for the 100, and some 70 series trucks.
