Storm update - No flooding in the village of ocracoke. The north end of the island where hwy 12 is will need repair as the storm swell washed away the dunes in some spots on the north end of the island. Unfortunately that means some of the parts...
I’m by no means a body guy but the half dozen or so vehicles I’ve needed filler on (and another dozen motorcycles) I’ve always used rage gold.
I use thin, smooth cutting boards from the dollar store to mix it on and spread it from. Don’t mix too...
Here's pics of the dies, I bonded the flat shapes to the 3/4inch plates they're sitting on with mastic and aligned them by eye. Using 18ga you want 5mm gap down long sides and 10mm at each end - radius and smooth the corners well. I just tapped...
There’s a fair amount of metal forming with hand tools in this thread for inspiration:

How she sits now. I’ve already diagnosed and fixed a faulty drivers seat control switch and I’m replacing the headlight bulbs either Sylvania Basics tomorrow.

My CV Axles have been bleeding grease for a while, but recently, they started feeling a little rough on acceleration. So it was time to R&R the axles.
I chose not to take off the steering knuckle (that bugger is HEAVY) and just...
no that was before it cut on, i was just excited it was alive, ill check again before d/c`ing battery. Yeah good call, us. No code reader or nothing, ill add it to the list. And will also need proper tools. I just have a socket wrench set and a...
Thank you very much and there's no need to feel guilty building one at as long as you are the one doing it. The only builds I've ever done are at the customer's request. My rationale has always been "you never want to pay for someone else's bad...
I have seen this truck in person and frankly tried to pry it out of Chris’s hands for a few years. It is a great way to acquire an awesome driver with real value upside potential, plus you are buying from an FJ40 guru who will be completely...
I use Techstream, and to be honest, it sucks running on an old slow pc in a VM. Does it work, yes. Is it cheap, yes. Am I very thankful someone made the effort to make this available, hell yes. But I am glad there are other options now.
There is a rattle in the passenger door I'm going to have to get yall to help me fix. You can hear it in the video.
After I got back from the ride I put it up on the rack and tore into it. First job will be swapping the 4.11s fit 3.70s...
Agreed. I know the thread has become laudatory comments....but I wanted to say that @Racer65 appears
to have upped the game on ordering and turnaround times as well. Its always been fast but execution of the
order is exemplar. Its not just...
It was awesome seeing you get back on the horse that bucked you off and seeing you driving it out!!!
BTDT. (on the horse, literally)
It was also good seeing you later in the week, some people commented you actually looked younger later in the...
Richard, good point for sure. Thank you and no offense taken.
I made a mistake trying to “drive” through it and panicked when it started to roll back. I am very lucky I was not hurt.
Allen I’m supper happy you didn’t get hurt.
I feel it’s important enough that I have to say it so please don’t take offense.
Equally important as wearing your seatbelt is listening to others that know the trail better and have more...
cheep pressure regulator seemed to work. however I did realize that the throttle lever gear was off a tooth as well. not sure if that had anything to do with my issue or not but I did fix that too. Focusing on stuff to make it more daily...
Well I got some insurance so I can get a plate on this piggy! I did Haggerty this time and I got it for half the price that I was doing for farm bureau that the fj40 was insured by. I feel pretty good about it. I got it insured for a number that...
I installed 555 inner and outer tie rods with some new rack boots. Did the alignment by myself with a tape measure! Then had my buddy laser align it and it was almost dead on with my tape measure.
Get the thing running right and safe first. Engine/drive train. Brakes. Steering. Front bumper. THEN think about the 1/2 tub. You need to have a few "memorable" drives with your son to get the hunger in him when it begins to come apart.
