Yeah it is funny how many great trucks people have passed up. With only a few blemishes but set up. Like Marks.
And then they buy something that needs a whole lot of work.
Don’t get it.
Not much new on the General, aside from plucking the new check valve off the air rail and putting it on my FJ60 project, then getting an AV8 check valve from a late '70s to early '90s Alfa as referred to by @Spike Strip for the 62. Threaded side...
We head out 5am this Saturday. Day 1 will take us from California & all across Nevada to Salina, Ut. The portion thru Nevada will be on Hwy 6/50, often called ‘The Loneliest Road in America’ & it feels like it. One section where it’s 160+...
Made the cut, 2 weeks notice one week out. New Birfield installed, New 39s mounted up, diff oil drained and filled, fresh transfer case oil and transmission fluid drain and flush with new filter. Trailer is loaded with enough Red Oak to BBQ Santa...
It's very doable and close, but very busy on the weekend. It was a little more people-y than I'd prefer even mid-week but that's just me. Vault toilets are kind of gross but serviceable, next time will bring our own setup. Horse Flats is about 10...

Funny I would always think i would need to drive 6 hrs out for a weekend camp trip.
This is doable and close. May do this soon with GF for a get away. Nice you took your daughter.
More camping love for Stinky Pete this weekend. Find myself with some time on my hands and the kids with nothing to do, so took my daughter out on a long-promised camping trip out to Buckhorn in the Angeles National Forest. This campground had...
I'm re-employed after six months of "entrepreneurship", and unrelatedly Ichiro has proven to be useful and fun. So, we're investing in some professional surgery at @aljollano 's shop in Cedar Park. Ichiro should be ready for the SAS 9 event that...
I've driven past this 40 for a few years and one day on a furniture delivery, My son and I decided to stop and ask about it. It was definitely off the beaten path but seen from the road. Turns out it lived most of it's life in Vail, Colorado...
Starting on the axle teardown. Good to see clear oil coming out of the differential. Going to make sure I mark where I take all of my shims off of on the knuckles. Had a mix-up before on a previous set, wasn't pretty... Couple tools to have...
Couldn't wait..lol. Hoisted the axle up on my bench. Using a Eastwood axle dolly. I just removed the casters and clamped it to the bench. Easy to work at height, at least for me.
Tomorrow I'm going to be starting on disassembly of a later model FJ40 disc brake axles. Planning on going thru them before installation.Going with disc on the rear also. Degreased and ready to disassemble.
Good Morning folks! One of our longtime sponsors and friends to Solid Axle Summit, Classic Cruisers in Poncha Springs Colorado, is offering a Huge Yard Sale event for people going to or returning from SAS this year. It's a great opportunity to...
I am not sure I'd classify this quite as karma, but certainly as the universe working in funny ways... I picked up some license plate frames from the local dealership, and took the rear plate off to install and found the dealer ad underneath it...
Carb is off the rig and down at Mark's for a spa treatment. Finished a couple minor projects today, first up is the AC compressor idler bearing. This thing was rattling and chattering like the smoke monster from Lost every time I drove it. When I...
