How I fixed my non-operational carb secondary. Drill down a bit to get to the secondary fix. From my Turdle build thread:
A couple of weeks ago I took the Turdle on its longest trip since I took ownership. It was a trip from Charlotte to...
Ok to bump an old thread and maybe help some folks (maybe not), I just ran into an issue that I'm sure some know of but some may not. I was finishing rebuilding the carb for my FJ60 and while playing with it on the bench I noticed that the...
Here's another option. Disconnect hardlines. Run small diameter wire (welding wire) through hardline, then pull some Kevlar fishing line through. Hook up a gun bore brush to the kevlar line and pull it through. Spray carb cleaner in line...
Yeah, it is humbling...that's why I think it's important to sort through it all...and by logging it here on MUD, hopefully it will help someone else answer some questions, too.
It is not just WOT, but also the load on the engine that determines the manifold vacuum. WOT at 4,000 PRM could still have a manifold acuum of greater than 3 inches, while WOT at 1,000 RPM the vacuum may drop to less than 1.
Manifold vacuum is...
Oy, so many questions I might forget a few.
1. Off idle fuel comes from the transition slot just above the throttle plate that is fed from the idle circuit. When people have a manifold vacuum leak, they increase the idle speed to compensate...
You’ve seen it not explode. Doesn’t mean it’s running well. I am sure it’s running lean. There are a lot of videos here on mud of people running lean and pinging like crazy with setups that need some work. It’s just a testament to the 1FZ...
If you are in Dubai contact Subzero Motorsports, they have probably turbo'd more 1FZ's than anyone else in the world.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
I pulled the carb again today and did a couple of things.
1st. Strait Cruisin got it right. A gasket was backwards. The gasket between the base and the fuel bowl was reversed (Not sure if the nomencalature is correct)...
Well maybe I can shed some light as that SOR post originated from me..... Here's what I've learned and done since that post:
• was successful in eliminating all of the problematic symptoms by simply cutting the EGR valve out of the emissions...
I went through this same thing after I bought my Land Cruiser ('84 FJ60) years ago. Everyone suggested the "fuel issues" route, but after replacing the fuel pump, filter, gas cap, and rebuilding the carb; the problem still existed.
Time for...
Josh and Jessica gifted Deb, their. 2013 Land Cruiser for Christmas….we were blown away.
It’s like new……got OME suspension..
I’ll drive to our meeting next week….

That's a how long is a piece of string question.
What's your intended use?
How far do your modest mechanical capabilities extended?
How inclined are you too so work yourself? Vs pay for work to be done?
How deep does the Mud OCD run? Are you...
So when I owned my 80 series I felt like I could never truly afford to get it to the point I wanted mechanically and cosmetically. For one thing, to do the upper pan arch and valve stem seals would have been cost-prohibitive at a mechanic and...

I too am an avid platform sleeper (or on the rokfrack. The lack of rear exit and a handle to pull the rear shut has been extremely annoying. One added bonus of the handle is that it offers a bit of protection in the even something slides into the...
The switch is part # 84930-28150 and it appears to be a good number in the US, but I have not tried ordering. The switch is large and I think it mounts right where Johnny placed his... my Huskies and kidnapping victims would have the potential to...
