The following posts are to document the 1FZ-FE US market 80 series 1995-1997 OBD2 main engine wiring harness connectors. While this is not exhaustive in the sense that it covers every single connector, it does cover about 95% of them. The remaining 5% or so are not sourceable outside of the main engine wiring harness itself.

Toyota uses an internal part number nomenclature for connectors used through the vehicle in different harness systems. This connector system for the parts world is prefixed by 90980- XXXXX. The XXXXX are the specific connector number based on an internal Toyota system. Using this 10 digit part number, you can then cross-reference the connector number to the splices and the number needed. This is pretty much the case for all Toyota connectors till about the mid-2000's when they started introducing some 90080-XXXXX prefixes connector numbers.

All splices start with 82998-XXXXX and come in different lengths. Some splices are very cheap; others are very expensive based on function and duty-- fuel injector splices for example are gold covered thus significantly more expensive than say a splice for a tail light connector.

Female connectors are usually on the harness side in most harnesses.

Male connectors are usually on the "application" or "functional" side in most harnesses.

They are always mirror images of each other.

I have uploaded the Toyota connector list to my Google drive and anyone who would like access to it may download it from this link:

Housing_Part_Number_List.pdf

Not all connectors from the above list are available in the US market; some might also be discontinued. Please check with whomever is your Land Cruiser parts professional for availability and pricing.

I have also uploaded the connector housing cross-section list here:

Table_of_Housing_Cross_Section.pdf

Hopefully this information will be useful to folks in the future.

While the main engine wiring harness is still available new from Toyota, I doubt that it will be for much longer considering the last vehicle to use this harness was manufactured 20 years ago this year. This harness is applicable for all FZJ80 trucks (Toyota and Lexus) from 1/1995-12/1997. It will not work on the earlier trucks unfortunately. You will notice the harness has the plastic protector where it runs by the EGR valve on the firewall, it also has the OBD2 diagnostic port (for timing and the like-- cool tool by @NLXTACY at Wit's End by the way), and it also has the large grommet where the harness passes through the firewall on the RH side to connect with the engine ECU.

This thread will also cover the separate oil pressure sender/AC wire sub-harness as well.

So for the oil pressure sender unit found on the RH side (passenger side) of the engine you have the following connectors:

90980-11016: gray, triangle housing, 3 wire

90980-11271: gray, circle housing, 1 wire.

The ground and power "slide" style connectors are not available separately from the harness itself.

These two are useful if you are trying to connect universal O2's to the factory harness.

While not a part of the main engine wiring harness, you will need these connector a homemade fusible link to your harness:

That's all I currently have. Some of these don't have functional correlatives mainly because my 80 is dead and the harness is long gone as well as the connections. So, please feel free to correct or add to this thread as it will help everyone in the future.

Best regards.

Any chance you have a similar list of Toyota wire harness retention clips? I broke the one for the main harness today, right after it comes out of the firewall. Although, it looks like it comes on the main harness you posted, so it's possible it can't be purchased separately.

Thanks for the information.

Has the main engine harness been changed/updated compared to the original? The heat protection/insulation near the EGR area appears to be different than my original 1996 FZJ80 harness.

Some clips cannot be bought separately and only come with the harness. Some are indeed available separately. Do you have a picture of the said clip?

Here are some that are available for the later FZJ80:

Here are all of the clamps/clips available for a 100 series... A lot depends on the vehicle in all honesty.

Beno,

I believe the clips is shown in your original picture of the new wiring harness. I'm just starting my build back up after moving and renovating our house so unfortunately I've 'misplaces' the other half to the clip and only have what's left on the firewall for reference.

Thanks,

Andrew

BENO,
Is the "plastic protector for wiring harness" which mounts to firewall available as a single part or only available with entire harness?
