On the 3FE, the cam drives the distributor. The distributor drives the oil pump. The end of the distributor shaft has a flat blade tip which fits into the oil pump. If the rotor spins, the oil pump is pumping.

Well since we are being so forward, I don’t really care or want to save the 3FE. It leaks oil from just about everywhere, and didn’t run when I bought it, I got it running, and knew it was only a matter of time before the neglect caught up to it...

Strongly disagree with this. The fan MUST provide low pressure behind the radiator to have airflow. Went through this on my 91 FJ80 with an old, tired fan clutch and on my 97. Both wouldn't stay reasonably cool at highway speeds.

The tachometer is fed by pulses from the igniter. It gets +12 from the GAUGE fuse and is grounded within the cluster.
