Started the next project, which was dropping the aux tank. We put it in for the P.O. at my shop approximately 30 years ago, and it hasn't been out since. While the tank stopped the rust in the rear sill from progressing, it probably wasn't a good...
Took it grocery getting! Felt good, first real drive in 6 months. Both axles rebuilt, new brakes plumbed and new suspension. Rode nice! Also found a few more items to add to the fix it list.
Buy a new points dizzy from Toyota (you won’t notice any driveability difference between an electronic 60 dizzy).
I’ve used both extensively - points dizzy is great for long term parts and bolt-on ease.
That sounds crazy, but it's true. I was working in the parts department at a dealership and the town drunk's wife finally had enough and left him and cleaned out the bank account, so he needed money and walked in and asked if anyone wanted to buy...
Thanks for all of your reply's I really appreciate it. at this point im going to replace the rear brake cylinders as well and bench bleed the master cylinder. then bleed again from the right order. ill also look into adjusting the booster pushrod...
I would recommend a cylinder leakdown test before you make the decision to rebuild the engine.
Results from the leakdown test will show you where your engine is losing compression, and it could very well be a quality valve job will be all...
Some grinding and paint on the shifter cover. The shifter cover finish convinced me to take the tunnel cover all the way back to metal and repaint, as seen in the previous photos.
It was time to put the new shifter cover on the repainted...
4. Connect the coolant hoses from the heater box to the firewall hose inlets.
I used the old hardened coolant hoses that I removed from the old heater box and duplicated them with fresh new flexible hoses.
I found it a good idea to do a mock...
Now that ive got the two major rust blisters patched up on the passenger rocker, it’s time to start thinking about filler and paint. When I bought the bottle of touchup paint, I also ordered a spray can of Pluto beige. A little light bulb moment...
Just got back into town from a 3 week road trip and I put 1500 miles on the red Land Cruiser pictured below. I also met a lot of great people, including @Ditcherman and @Tank5 in the other two Cruisers.
That's a freaky scenario l can understand glad to hear he didn't intimidate you into selling to him...as for myself thankfully my location is remote and it takes a 4x4 to get here...there's also the added bonuses that l can see 1 mile clear down...
Typical. I was planning to change the running board out, but I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire at the moment. So I got a big washer and slipped it behind the oversized hole, welded it in and re-slotted the track
Now I can get back on track.
We drove to a waterfall just outside of Bogota. Lots of twisties , turns, low and high elevation. The Land Cruiser ran flawlessly. We had a great lunch (menu del dia) at a roadside restaurant. The weather held up well, as we were expected to get...
I posed the question of whether anyone had seen a repository of information on OE hardware manufacturers and approximate manufacturing timelines. Not much response. But while the majority of folks are content to reassemble their projects with...
