Friend has a leak down near the rack and pinion. Can he drive and refill the reservoir until he gets home? Leak is in the lines down by the r and p. If he can slow the leak down and then top up, can he drive and still have the vane pump...
I ran my new LifePO4 all weekend. Just used passive cooling and a very thin heat shield. I modified my grill and part of my rad support to increase airflow. I don't have a data logger, so I just checked batt temp as much as possible. Battery...
The cooling fan runs off the Dakota Lithium battery. It generally runs for about 90 minutes after engine shutdown on a hotter day, but only pulls 1/3 amp or so, so a pretty trivial draw.
Any updates on this thread? I'm installing a LifePo4 under the hood, with a little separate wall or compartment like I'm seeing in the 200 LCs. @gluaisrothai Did you run the fan off the battery it is intended to cool or off the starting battery?
I'm not very knowledgeable in the different build materials so could not say what is best/lightest but I have no doubt that there are things better than plywood in modern materials.
Went with plywood because it was easy to work without knowing...
George is correct. What you see is normal, even without parasitic drain. The key here is that there is likely no significant state of charge difference between the maxs and mins you see in the sawtooth pattern. The difference in seen voltage...
^ you are not 'losing' 1V every 12 hours. LiFePO4 batteries (well, most batteries) will 'float' at a 100% charged voltage that is NOT the same as what the charger is 'topping' up to. e.g. your alternator will charge your starting battery up to...
I prefer copper/brass radiators. I've bought the cheap aluminum eBay radiators for other vehicles and never had a problem. One is still in my daughter's 66 Mustang that I installed when she was in high school. It's still working and she's 40 now...
Hmmm. Running short of options that I can get here. OEM is plastic now, I hear. Spectra premium also plastic, but cheap. CSF I can get here, but not cheap. Koyorad available sort of, but not cheap. Online there are quite a few aluminum rads...
Don’t get the CSF. I know toast had an issue with one and I just pulled one out and it’s ruined. This is the lower rad inlet pipe and it crushed from me trying to get the hose off by hand. I was wiggling the hose up and down due to already...
New radiator, fan shroud, fan clutch and fan installed. I copied @liveoak and use a Liland 2 row 3.0 radiator, a 2rz fan shroud modified to fit on the 3.0 radiator. I used a 3rz fan and fan clutch and some 1/2 thick foam to seal the gaps I had...
No torches. I would probably blow a hole in the tanks first try. I will keep looking for a shop locally. Going to Vancouver in 2 weeks, so I can try there. In the meantime, I'm looking at new rads. Nobody had chimed in on the ideal one. Kind...
I live in a fairly small town, and the region does not have a dedicated radiator shop that I have found so far. Maybe the Okanagan or Vancouver, but that will be 2 weeks before I can get there.
If you can see the video, it shows core moving back and forth with little pressure. I've been looking around locally for a shop that brazes radiators, but does not seem to exist in my area. Also looking at new rads. Searched on Mud and the...
Broke all the brazes/welds on my OEM radiator. Think it's about 10 years old. Came from New Mexico via cruiser Dan, I think. Was working perfectly and still is, just with no attachments to the brackets. No leaks, either. Trying to upload video...
Seems like no karma risk now to say the fix worked. About 100 starts and 3 camping trips with no issues, at least as far as starting goes. Subjectively, it "feels" like it starts better. Put a 30A fuse on the firewall as suggested. Put another...
I had this spot to myself last night. The Aussie solar shades are large to pack, but the privacy they provide is amazing. I used to have a homemade set made out of reflective insulation you can get at the big box stores. These are so much nicer.
