Engine Bay Temp Data Logging Thread

I ran my new LifePO4 all weekend. Just used passive cooling and a very thin heat shield. I modified my grill and part of my rad support to increase airflow. I don't have a data logger, so I just checked batt temp as much as possible. Battery has a bluetooth monitor which did not exceed 28C...

Engine Bay Temp Data Logging Thread

Any particular .040 aluminum? I'm assuming sheet, but there are a lot of different alloys.

Engine Bay Temp Data Logging Thread

Any updates on this thread? I'm installing a LifePo4 under the hood, with a little separate wall or compartment like I'm seeing in the 200 LCs. @gluaisrothai Did you run the fan off the battery it is intended to cool or off the starting battery?

    Radiator broken

Yikes. What model of CSF is that? How old? Maybe Mudder is super strong and crushes inlets? :)

    Radiator broken

Hmmm. Running short of options that I can get here. OEM is plastic now, I hear. Spectra premium also plastic, but cheap. CSF I can get here, but not cheap. Koyorad available sort of, but not cheap. Online there are quite a few aluminum rads available. I have zero experience with them. I...

    Radiator broken

No torches. I would probably blow a hole in the tanks first try. I will keep looking for a shop locally. Going to Vancouver in 2 weeks, so I can try there. In the meantime, I'm looking at new rads. Nobody had chimed in on the ideal one. Kind of leaning towards CSF at the moment, mostly due to...

    Radiator broken

I live in a fairly small town, and the region does not have a dedicated radiator shop that I have found so far. Maybe the Okanagan or Vancouver, but that will be 2 weeks before I can get there.

    Radiator broken

If you can see the video, it shows core moving back and forth with little pressure. I've been looking around locally for a shop that brazes radiators, but does not seem to exist in my area. Also looking at new rads. Searched on Mud and the choice seems to be OEM which is expensive and is now...

    Radiator broken

Broke all the brazes/welds on my OEM radiator. Think it's about 10 years old. Came from New Mexico via cruiser Dan, I think. Was working perfectly and still is, just with no attachments to the brackets. No leaks, either. Trying to upload video but it's not working yet.

22RE No start - COR? Confirm diagnosis.

Seems like no karma risk now to say the fix worked. About 100 starts and 3 camping trips with no issues, at least as far as starting goes. Subjectively, it "feels" like it starts better. Put a 30A fuse on the firewall as suggested. Put another fuse inline that I can use as a kill mechanism if...

I will add that to my bottle jack file. I usually jam a 2x4 underneath.

    Redarc 1225 Challenge

Anybody on this thread have any issues with the Redarc BCDC mounted in the engine bay? Redarc says it can be, but I'm curious. Does heat cause any de-rating of the equipment?

    AGM battery charging/discharging

My concern would be running my old 60 Amp alternator with a LIPO4, as the battery might draw the max output from the alt for a while and stress the alternator. Eventual plan would be to upgrade the aux alternator, but not in the budget right now. Looking at some sort of DC/DC charger to...

    AGM battery charging/discharging

My old thread. I am still paying attention as I'm using an old lead acid starting battery as my house battery for now. Runs the fridge through the night and into the morning if it is not too hot out. Still intending to replace the house battery with a LIPO4 of some sort. They look good...
