Hi All,
Figured after a lot of lurking and learning from searching these forums it’s time to introduce myself and my Troopy I built while working in Saudi in 2023 and 2024. I shipped it back to the states and have been continuing to tie up...
Installed 2 degree front caster shims for my OME 2.5” CS001F suspension with 33” tires. The steering was pretty good without the angle change but what a solid and noticeable improvement with the shim. This calibration had a nice return on my...
I will fill it up with Corroseal and spray away inside the frame rails and all the hard-to-reach places. I don't have any spots longer than about 12 inches to reach into, but you could make the wand as long as needed.
Here is a link to...
My in-laws have been in town for the week so I have not had a lot of time to dig into stuff. I did install the fuse block yesterday and that was 100% my issue with the headlights. Now my next project is to get the heater working. It will start...

Those North ATL meetings are already happening - join in the first Saturday of each month at Manhattan Bagels in Peachtree Corners at 8am, or one of the upcoming trail runs...
Engines. Many options. Easy/Simple is a chevy 350 carbed. Mine has one behind a 3 spd on the floor. Its wicked. Does 80 mph all day! Love Toyota engines. But this one gets my grubby hands over them most days.
Every time this thread bumps I look and want. Then I check my bank account and I’m still poor.
I would absolutely love a troopy with no engine. Build what I want and roll on.
One day. At least that’s what I tell myself.
For a lift just install 30mm rear coil spacers and adjust the front torsion bars to match- just make sure you have enough droop. New OEM shocks are a good idea. Inspect all other bushings and replace as needed. 285/75’s on the stock wheels. This...
Filled it up with beach gear, passed 200k at some point while the wife was at the helm. Took a terrible picture 68 miles late from the passenger seat. A typical LC travel day 😎🍻
Tackling a new lawn this week.
I’ve towed more recently either my rig and it feels great. Nothing too heavy I don’t think but I barely notice 3,000 lbs ish other than a couple MPGs
Update:
Quick follow-up on my LX470 saga. The other driver never came through, and I ended up not filing any claims. My mechanic dug into the transmission, and it turned out to be a valve body issue—a relatively easy swap. It’s now shifting...
Never jump on a truck with 'minimal review'. Even with significant review, there will be things to fix. Price almost seems 'too right', which is a concern.
In GA I wouldn't be looking at an IL-owned LC, too much risk of expensive rust repairs and 100's aren't rare enough that you need to be considering that. #5 (assuming a strong maintenance history and good interior condition) seems like a strong...
So update: Maine was awesome I saw one land cruiser of note. It was a early 80 series on Little Cranberry island that you have a little ferry barge to get on! I want to move up there one day. I gotta keep trying to convince my wife. Coming home...
this thing purrs after the valve adjustment. I did the valve lash the other day and holy crap at TDC on #1 the first two valves were so tight. I think sombody did an adjustment with it running by ear or just guessed or somthing but none were...
part #86120-08010. I believe it was available from 1998-2000 4Runner, Avalon, Sienna and Tercel. It's looks more period correct than the actual radio that came in the 60 series. I bought it for $25 on eBay. :D
In my opinion, probably the best land cruiser ever made. 80 series style coil suspension, solid front axle, 4 wheel disc and either a 1FZ-FE or a 1HZ diesel. Amazing trucks!
Oh and a manual transmission option!
