Small, rewarding project: leather steering wheel cover. I've had one on every 40 I've owned. And the wipers are no longer silver.....

The damage here is most likely just the valves even if it left a mark on the pistons it will be fine as long you clean it up, cost is unknown until you take it to the machine shop it's up to them what they are willing to do and at what price...

Full strength to you mate! My body shop working conditions are similar, as in frequent rain like the movie blade runner. I don't even have the temu shed. I have to wait until the dryer (hopefully) summer, just not worth getting the welder out...

It’s all character building. When you’re 90 and your grandkids come back from Mars for a visit, you’ll be able to tell stories about the days when rain was uncontrollable and how your vehicle was made out of steel and burned fossil fuels. Later...

Awesome work! My only bitch about rustoleum red or orange is that it is not uv stable. It fades and goes chalky. Very noticeable at night by torchlight after 6 months or so. Places where the sun does not shine it is fine. Goes on easy though...

If you lived in the northeast, I'd agree that it's manageable, but there is no reason to buy a 100 series in Houston with that kind of rust. Take your time, you'll find a rust free one here in Texas and your life will be MUCH easier every day...

Moab trip # 15? I can't keep track any more. Had a great time with my brother bringing his 80 along. We hit Hotel Rock, Comb's Descent, Porcupine Trail, Hell's, Fin's, Uranium Arch and Doug's Point. I so wish there was a way to squeeze just...

The funnest stuff today - driver's side exhaust manifold! Took me all of 6 hours. Removed motor mount (both parts) (replaced with new). That made it a lot easier. Totally rust free truck was nice. No broken bolts or nuts. Probably could have done...

with Landcruisers , its not the miles, its how they were maintained. i think that's an amazing deal for $3k and I have zero doubts that will make it to 500k

Call me a glutton for punishment, potentially. I found this 2002 for sale locally and was intrigued. It was being sold by the original owner (who is now 77). She was from SoCal and moved here about 10 years ago. Had a stack of maintenance records...

I was just though Jackson, Tetons and Wind River back in April of this year. Still had between 4-6' of snow on the ground in a lot of places in the higher elevations. It was Beautiful. I saw that museum but did not have time to stop, would...

I second this. I love when a good story is out there with these trips. This is something I would like to focus on myself. Also thank you for bringing Wyoming back in to perspective for me. I lived in Laramie for a while and forgot a lot of the...

Wes and I had talked about maybe getting to Yellowstone if we had the energy to get that far north. By this point, Jackson was only about 60 miles from the south entrance. So, we pushed north and caught Old Faithful right on time. It was really...

We rolled into Pinedale around 3 PM that afternoon and were stopped in our tracks to our road to Green River Lakes. I had found a ridge top camp site on Google Earth with a two-track road going all the way to the top. We found out pretty fast...

The route we took was quintessential Wyoming back roads. We had a blast navigating these towards the northwest. Some really cool sights along the way.

Things got really pretty really fast as we got off of pavement. This gradually became one of the roughest trails I've ever been on. Despite destroying two camp showers, spilling gasoline on gear, snapping a bolt on my trailer rack, breaking the...

Oh it was eventful, if you look closely you can see me leaning out of the window Ace-Ventura style. It was absolutely pouring down and the sap/moss -- i couldn't get off the windshield for anything. But I was only a few blocks away. So, sent it...

2004 Toyota Land Cruiser, 400,000 miles Won't start, open hood, close hood, starts. Losing power when accelerating, power then comes back. Losing power when driving on the expressway, cruise or no cruise. Cruise set at 75, 70, 65, 45 doesn't...

I'll disagree, a little, with an "it depends." I've rebooted inner boots at least three times. If a boot cracks and starts throwing grease, that in no way is an indicator there is something wrong with the rest of the axle. The inner shaft...

I just checked the old interweb and new OEM axles can be had for $320 each. Several places are running Labor Day free shipping sales as well. I just checked Serra Toyota and they are $320 shipped.
