Jumped in a 60 assembly and then took the old wiring harness and tailored it out the right way.
Solved. No need for the 78 assembly. Thanks to all that reached out.
It's been while!
I was keeping up with a lot of you on Instagram but about a year ago I deleted that because (with the exception of LC related content), it was such a time suck. So hello again to those of you that still peruse both, I'm not MIA...
For a comparison of the two types of points used in the small cap distributors check out the thread linked below (Post #1). The photos also illustrate the advancer differences pointed out by @65swb45...
Non-US 19100-61080 vacuum advance points distributor. I'll send a new Toyota condenser along with the points and octane selector cap, looks like you could use a new one.
How about a non-US 19100-61180 Land Cruiser distributor converted to Toyota electronic ignition. I can have one ready in a couple of weeks or less. Here's one of my threads describing the conversion - specifically for the 19100-61180 starting...
You can do that. I did. 60 series Big Cap dizzy into a '76ish completely de-smogged 2F in a '74 FJ55. Got a single diaphragm vacuum advance module from @4Cruisers to replace the leaky 2 diaphragm original unit, got some advance springs off the...
I'm not sure where my briefcase is last I heard it was in Texas having been to Cape flattery in Washington State and down to Baja. Hopefully it makes it to key West and then to New England
Update on the carb fan controller... I threw in the towel after screwing around with two non-working boards. Bought replacement caps, soldered 'em in, floated any loose connections... Nothin. I thought about mapping out the circuit, learning...
I almost bought a brand new mustard '83 FJ40 from Toyota West in Las Vegas, NV. Otherwise I'd be able to post a photo. I ended up buying a new beige '84 FJ60 which better suited my needs for a growing family. They were side by side on the...
If you have time after SAS, a short detour to the Longmire cabin in the Valles Caldera National Preserve is well worth it. It's really right on the way back through northern New Mexico. It's a short drive from the house - we could meet you there.
Just got done chatting with my sisters a few minutes ago. Today marks the five year anniversary of our mother’s passing. Interestingly, I just realized for the first time last week that today is also the nine year anniversary of the warehouse...
Completely agree. I was told to bring in the one drum and pad set for the warrantee exchange and when I picked it up today they gave me two drums and a complete rear brake pad set. I let them know the drivers side still looks new (very few...
Just to close the loop on the Warn 98381 contactor...I had success after I ran a ground wire from the motor to the negative terminal on the battery, and a separate ground wire from the center terminal on the Warn contactor to the motor as @gnob...
A few things on my punch list for SAS9. Fluid changes to Amsoil and all new Toyota hardware for the brakes. I got lazy last year driving over the passes to SAS8 and boiled my brakes coasting downhill with a trailer. Since then I’ve had pedal...
I few years ago we did a loop from beef basin down towards the Colorado river and up impossible hill. I really was not paying attention to any maps just out exploring with some friends.
When my son and I visited this area in '98 we drove in from Beef Basin, almost due west down into Bull Valley. We took a detour north into Imperial Valley to the head of Imperial Canyon, then backtracked to Bull Valley and headed further...
