When I was down there we put in a refurbished 2H checked through trans and transfer and birfs. Mechanically car is sound. Needs wheels and tires due to sitting and I’d check seals as well. Just dropped oil pan and replaced gasket no leaks now! The hood is rust free frame, no big rust on body (little on pinch welds). We went through and cut out any rust and patched with steel. It was resprayed then but it’s not the best…. spray...
Here’s my FJ60 I have for sale. I purchased this from the original owner and have quite the extensive documentation from day one. This includes, the original Purchase order/invoice/sales receipt. $4900... Pretty rusty, but I've seen worse...(and many better!) Rear frame sections should have stiffeners removed/replaced or just box the frame back there. This truck is fun "as-is" I'm not sure if it's worth fixing up. It could be made better with some work, however it will never be a "NICE" cruiser.

Up for sale is a rough, but in my opinion, definitely worth saving, FJ60. Needs work to get driving so it'll need a tow. Purchased not running, I deleted most of the smog/emissions plumbing, replaced the carburetor with a non-US model and fuel pump, and got it to a point where it'll fire up, but needs tuning to idle off of choke. Brake line blew out when I tried to drive it so that'll need a fix as well to get it on the road. Compression is 130-140 in all cylinders, but it does smoke on warmup, so a valve job might be in it's future. (I did add some seafoam to about 5gal of gas in the tank so it's entirely, entirely, possible it's just burning that off.) Body panels are rusty and dented, but the frame is in real good shape. This rig has just over 260k miles. It was sold new in CA and remained there with its owner until 2021 when it came to AZ. I have extensive service records for it including original window sticker, and a receipt from a Toyota dealer detailing a new transmission install. It has been lovingly cared for, which is apparent in the original paint/body work and in how well it runs.
I have recently installed the Old Man Emu 2” heavy duty lift kit with extended sway bar links and brand new BFG 33x10.5” tires. It runs and drives very well. A/C blows cold even in our AZ summer!

I bought this cruiser last year from the original owner in dallas, tx. It has 297,550 on it. His dad bought it new from a dealer ship and arizona and drove it back to dallas wear it has lived for the past 32 years. It sat for the last 10 years before I bought it. So it was not running at the time. I pulled the fuel tank, had it professioally restored by renu, put in a new fuel pump, changed the oil, and it started right up. I have decided to sell my 1988 FJ62. The truck isn’t running at this time. I picked this up in South Texas a few years ago and had a lot of fun with it here in Austin. I drove it a ton and had always planned to do a restoration or heavy cleanup on it at some point. I drove it out to my farm and parked in the barn and last year my brother took it to the deer lease. Unfortunately he left it sitting out and some critters got into the engine bay and made a nest and chewed through some wires. It’s the old story of it ran great when I parked it and now it doesn’t run. I don’t know if it needs a new harness or if someone with wiring knowledge could repair the existing wiring.
