I believed this is an original Orange fj40. It has orange paint in spots under the red. Around hinges and the tub where the red has flaked.
the frame is heavily welded on. It’s rough. It needs completely cleaned up.
the tub has been cut by the firewall for a poorly installed v8 swap. The mounts were set wrong. It would need two 2x4in patches, and one strip on the drivers side next to the trans hump mount. Also poorly welded around. Needs grinded down and cleaned up.
the normal spots for rust are fairly clean. The worst spots are really where someone had a aftermarket roll bar with fabric as the barrier...

Living in the city with a bunch of hills and pot holes and just junk everywhere got me thinking I should look for something a little more practical to drive. I know they only came in Manuals but I know a lot of people who have done the conversion. I'm looking for an automatic transmission car. I'm open to whatever engine. As long as it's well sorted. 1971 fj40. Yes, this is a Large project for someone....hopefully. More than I can handle and looking too move this truck. No motor. All doors, seats, rear hatch and glass are here. Looking for an 76+ FJ40 as stock as possible except an automatic drivetrain. I also prefer a Toyota engine and transmission setup instead of the chevy engine conversions if possible. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay area so a California car can be logistically easier.

This original 76 FJ40 is currently listed on CL. Link should be in posting. I have been reluctant to list but life has a way of changing. I am the second owner. It was originally purchased in Northern California and was used at a duck lodge to get around the property (do you see the gun rack and a little camo paint:).
