I need to sell this Land Cruiser because I inherited a jeep - am getting older - and don’t use it. Also because it has burned out two ignition modules and I cannot find a mechanic on Martha’s Vineyard who can ID the problem. I just don’t have time or patience for it anymore.

I am now cruiser-less for the first time since 1978 - vehicle sold yesterday
I am the original owner of this vehicle. It was my daily driver for almost 20 years, but has been in "retirement" since then. I am guessing it has around 250K miles on it, the odometer quit at 85K and I never fixed it (speedometer works fine).
1981 FJ-40s have factory power front disc brakes and power steering. I had the dealer install air conditioning when purchased. Also had locking hubs (Warn) installed at that time.
The frame-on restoration was done in 1999/2000. Everything removed from the tub (that could be), sandblasted and repainted. Tub and frame were sandblasted or hand stripped and re-primed/painted. Paint was a close...

It has an awesome running F Motor, Pertronics distributer, header to a 2.5 inch exhaust and Flowmaster. The body is in great shape with no cancer or rust. It sits on 35/12.50/16 wheels and has black steel rims. I have an extra set of black steel rims that go with it. It has a hard top in great shape all the glass is primo, hard doors to match that are also primo. It comes with a bench seat for the back, bimini top and soft half doors. I have extra Aisin carb and other parts. I also have a Chevy 327 long block that I had plans to put in, that goes with the cruiser. I have a 79 fj40 and I am looking to buy another 79 and later land cruiser for the front floors and door jam section. I don't care what the tub or front end looks like. I will buy just a body as well I don't need the entire truck. I have a perfect cowl and brand new half tub just need the front floors, rocker panels, and door jams. The owner of this rig also owns a company that rebuilds and builds turbos for air planes. This rig has been built with the utmost proffesionalism. The detail in everything that has been done could fill a photo album.
He has it on E-Bay for $12,500 but will sell it to a Mudder for $10,000.

I can't see keeping both of my cruisers and always neglecting one of them.... so I decided to keep my '71 FJ40 and sell the '78. the '78 has approx 110,000 miles on her. It has a strong running 2f with a new Trollhole carb( works fabulously), a stainless header and a new fuel pump and steel fuel tank from CCOT. This FJ40 has 5 new 6 spoke FJ rims from CCOT and 5 new BFG 33x9.50x15 All-Terrain Tires. Both the front and rear heaters are removed and are being repainted, rear jumpseats are removed also and have been wire wheeled but not repainted yet. The front seats are in great condition. Sadly as my wife is losing her job and going back to college I must sell my FJ40 to help out. I have owned it for the last three years and bought it in Montana.
It is a clean rig and would be great for a restoration project as it has very little rust compared to most I have seen.
It has Alcan springs with an about 2" lift over stock, New Greaseable Tri-shackles Front and Back, New U-Bolt Flip all around, New disc brake conversion with disc brakes front and rear, Center arm rebuilt this year, New Tie Rod Ends.

Didn't have a chance to wash it and our road is a little muddy rite now so the pics don't do the paint justice. I'm thinking about getting rid of it because my wife and I just had a baby and now I need a more family oriented rig. Also included will be the NP205 SM465 combo, good flywheel, good clutch. Putting my '78 FJ40 up for sale--I would like to fix it up but don't think I have the time. Clear title, no motor. Trans/Transfer included. Put your motor in!
The frame is ratty but spring perches solid. The floor of the tub is typical midwest rot but relatively solid. New quarters a few years back.
No hard-top. Soft top only.
No Passenger seat.
Wiring harness rebuilt but not connected--recommend new one/painless system.
Low miles on BFG 33x12.50's, Skyjacker 4", etc.

Looking for an 80-83 fj40 to use as a daily driver. Looking for as bone stock as possible with rust being one of my largest concerns. I don't mind some isolated areas especially if on original paint so I can see exactly the situation. I would consider trading my 07 Tacoma (2wd, 34k, white, auto trans, reg cab, non smoker, great mpg, pretty much like new, kbb private party $13400) for a really nice one.
