Pretty much original and relatively solid, except the rear sill.
Has receipts for an $1,800 engine overhaul, a pre-purchase condition, many years ago.
Said it drove last a few years ago, but clutch didn't work. Looks like slave may be shot.
Don't know if anyone here would be interested, but passing along in the event it's attractive to the early vintage enthusiasts.

Selling my 1974 FJ40. This was a true barn find. Do not know the entire history, but it appears to have made it's way from California. Odometer shows 38,052. Believed to be original on the F engine. Taken down to the frame, and brought back up. Kept as original as possible. Went with Best Top Jeep seats. The entire FJ is Raptor lined in the Freedom Red, and the top is as well. All parts that could be, were powder coated. During the rebuild, I learned that the top is actually a 71 (so I was told due to the needed seals for the windows). Only major conversions to the engine was an upgraded radiator, installed pertronix and ignitor coil, installed gear reduction starter, and weber carb (still has original breather on it), and...

This fj40 is an original sky blue ,fresh repaint new OEM parts and suspention ,seats redone no rust
All original evenerything works ,it shows 38k miles and it still works so not sure if that's true previous owner had it parked in his garage for years
When I had it someone had put the clutch in backwards so I put a full new exedy high performance clutch
This fj40 is the cleanest one you will find for the price 16k for the form

Ok I bought this back in September 2014 from a farmer in South GA as a barn find, he had used it on his farm for the past 20 years as a toy for he and his kids, no doors or top. Ran when I got it. I had plans to restore it, just do not see the time and do not want it to set. The PO had someone primer the whole thing tan inside and out. I spoke with the owner (Harvey) nice gentleman very up front and honest about the condition of the 40. He wasn't familiar with Ih8mud so I offered to post here to increase his exposure. He also seemed very willing to negotiate on price.

Since owning this FJ40 I have invested over $15,000 in parts & labor. This rig is not a "Parade" or "Show" FJ -- this is built and meant to be driven. The paint is a 8 out of 10. The last owner chipped some of the paint off in what looks like an attempt to take the doors off (see pics).
If you've done any research on these rigs you've seen FJ40's in the price range of $30k - $45K. Those FJ40's are show level rigs which is great if your intention...
Looking for a trail ready FJ40, daily driver, no princesses, but no frogs either.
I'm sure plenty of Rising Sun members have seen this at our meetings, but I took some pics anyways. Look like a pretty stock 1973 FJ40. Unlike the others in the showroom, this one is a driver not a showpiece. Has some non-factory bits on it, but appears mostly unmolested. Odometer shows 65,000 miles. Asking price is $26,000.

SOLD, thanks ... Price drop to $2750. Completely stock, 2F runs (starting fluid), H42 four speed, shifts through all gears and high and low range very nicely. New brake master cylinder but no brakes because I haven't bled them yet. Typical rust in the tub, frame is good except rear corner gussets, easy fix. Wheels in pics not included but truck will have rollers on it. Title in hand and will entertain reasonable offers after you look at the truck in person. No trades, too much stuff as it is.

Now you might assume that, given that this truck is 3 feet from the Mexican border, that it was taken to Tijuana for a cheap spray job to hide all the rust but this guy actually figured out a way to store his cruiser inside out so that the interior rusted but miraculously the outside is rust free and in "mint" condition.
And he only wants 10 grand for it. Oh and no low ballers. What a $^!tbag.
At least its not "rare". then it would be 20 grand.
