The engine and transmission are solid. It has a new winch, new Aisin carb, new master cylinder (and all the wheel cylinders are either new or working great so the brakes work great), new exhaust, new Ironman lifted suspension that includes new shocks and greasable shackles, newly covered and stuffed original FJ40 seats. The interior is Rhinolined. It comes with a hardtop that needs work, but it also has a Besttop soft top and bra top and has the hard doors. The paint is not great and is not the original color which was Mustard Yellow. There is a little rust, but none on the frame. It also does not have the rear jump seats, so I have bolted in a super strong box for carrying recovery gear and tools that is totally secure and waterproof...

I picked this up for a project and have gotten laid off from work. I have no time or money to complete this. Had a clear title and some parts to go with it. Hello thought i would let all mudders know that i may be considering selling my 1976 fj40 survivor with documented 68,000 miles completely bone stock just how you would of purchased it in 1976. original invoice from longo Toyota. A true survivor with Zero rust anywhere period! dune beige in color with the original radio still intact and including dealer installed a/c that works! a superior example of a true survivor! one fj40 that you cannot nit pick apart! Yes the antenna and rear reflector is replaced only because reflector had a light hairline crack and antenna broke off during a washing. This is a stock 1978 Toyota FJ 40...No modifications. It has the original 4.2 L 2F engine, and 4 speed manual. It has extremely low mileage at 54,000. It comes with the hard top and doors, as well as a bestop soft bikini top and doorless mirrors. It has original wheels and hubcaps, with brand new 31' BFG TaKo tires (less than 2,000 miles). It also has new corbeau Baja SS seats, as well as a new bestop rear folding seat. The carburetor was rebuilt at 53,000 miles. All normal maintenance has been kept up with. It runs well with lots of power, and four wheel drive works well too. Overall, this is one the best FJ40s we've seen and a highly desirable year. This is not totally unrealistic for a relatively nice unmolested '83, especially one marketed by Jonathan Ward. I sold one that was a little nicer (and rarer with vent windows) a few years back for $34K, which was then flipped for over $50K.

The owner of the company I'm moonlighting for called me this morning. He wants to talk to me about running his company here, while he starts another in Atlanta and eventually moves there to retire. (he's already bought a house there I found out)
This could be a great opportunity for me and my family down the road. For the foreseeable future though I'd be taking a significant pay decrease and walking away from my primary job.
My wife is the one who told me to buy another 40 and she's not sure she wants it to go. She always comments on how much attention she gets when driving around town. But, as you all know these are mostly adult toys to us all and the extra money would be a greater comfort in the bank...
No offense intended if the seller is on MUD, but why spend 140k restoring a cruiser and then put linex everywhere? That's the kind of money you spend to get to factory or buy a TLC Icon. This kinda looks like half a try at each. Only my opinion of course.
