78 FJ40 in Wichita, KS
Not mine. I am on the hunt for an FJ40, so I decided to look locally and discovered a dealer that has this one for sale. I called to ask on the price and he said $40k. Link to dealer ad He said it has not been restored, and does not have rust. I don't know anything about this dealer, other than that they are more of a mechanic shop than a dealer, and they have a good reputation for working on BMW and Mercedes vehicles. It's out of the price range I am hunting for, but I am still curious on what you guys think about it. Edit: Hmm, maybe I put words in the dealer's mouth. When I asked about the undercarriage, he said "it's original". From there I concluded "it hasn't been restored", but that's not what he said. I don't...
Seeking opinion / value on this - or something like it
FJ Cruiser Land Cruiser | eBay I've built and rebuilt a lot of cars and trucks but I'll be the first to admit I don't know a ton about the Landcruiser. That said, I'm reading up on them and learning as much as I can. I DO know which way the bezel goes on thanks to this site so I've got that going for me. I own an 8 bay shop and have five high level professional techs. We mostly do transmission, transfer case and engine rebuilding as well as major mechanical restorations (no body work) on mostly domestic vehicles. We do a lot of work on newer Toyotas but we've never had an older LC in the shop. We're in Upstate NY and they don't really have them up here. I suspect our NY winters and salt claimed most of them. I'm looking at this...
An old neighbor of mine called the other day and asked if I knew where I could get an engine to replace the one that locked up on the interstate at 55mph. No idea how bad that ended up. I'm just trying to help him out. It's a '76. That's all I know. He lived down the street from me what I had the Zebranator...
1980 FJ40 - Power Steering - IA
Here’s a nice 1980 FJ40 with an aluminum tub and running boards. It has Toyota Mini-truck PS. It rides and drives great. I had her going 70MPH no problem. The carburetor was recently rebuilt by Jim Chenoweth at Performance TLC. I'll cut to the chase for you MUD guys and gals. This is a NICE truck for under 30K! Lots of good here including 3:70 gears, ps, repainted original color last year, no rust on the body, runs strong, new tires, rattle free and rides nice! What does it need? Heater does not seem to be blowing hot - The valve on the firewall is the likely culprit. There's very little travel in the valve when you pull the Heat control. The thermostat, water pump and radiator are new so no issues there. The wipers are not parking...
I picked up this FJ40 of a fellow mud member a year or so ago and bought it home, changed title over, drove it for a few weeks and then put it in storage for a Gunna Do Project. Well I have hit to many Gunna Do Projects so I am thinking of letting some go and this FJ40 has made it onto the list. I have no interest in tire kicking dreamers and the FJ 40 is what it is. I am into it for around $8k as she sits and would be looking for $8500 CASH to let her go. If you feel the need to haggle then I am after $11000 OBO and we can settle at $8500 after a dozen calls and inspections. The last owner was way more into internet details and posts than I am so I figured his For Sale Post is way more detailed than anything I have to say. She is...
1971 FJ40 - Arizona
Hello, I am interested in selling my Dad's (now mine) 1971 FJ. The vehicle currently lives in Arizona, but was an Idaho vehicle from 1971-2015. My dad bought the truck in 2004 (he was the 4th owner) and used it as his daily driver from 2004-2015. I haven't been driving it as much as it deserves so I'm hoping it can find a happy home with a new owner. Runs great, clean title, passed emissions last week w/no issues. - The odometer is stuck at ~41,500 but we estimate that the engine has about 75,000 miles. - Original engine but has a Chevy carb - Some body and frame rust (see photos) - Needs new tires - Clean interior. Minor tear on driver's seat. Dash board recovered. - Grab and roll bar added - Vehicle was repainted in 2004 to match...
1975 FJ40
I'm selling my FJ40; this is a daily driver that I don't really want to sell but looking to purchase a new truck for longer distance driving. Hoping to find a Tacoma to use as a daily driver to replace the FJ40. This is a solid FJ40 that runs great and has lots of brand new parts. It has a Chevy 327 with new distributor, plug, plug wires, air cleaner, Quadrajet rebuild with electric choke, new oil pan and silicon gasket and brand new exhaust system with Rams Horn headers and crossover pipe. It has power steering conversion so it's easy to push the brand new Super Swamper tires around. It has a four speed manual trans and 4wd transfer case with the Advance Adapters bell housing. The interior has new ProCar seats that are super...
FJ40 1977
I traveled to Tucson in 2013 and purchased this 40 from a fellow that purchased it from the original owner to re-sell it. I have a copy of original title issued Sept. 2,1977. Engine totally rebuilt by Grant Simmons, Meridian, Texas, he formerly lived in Wimberly, Texas and has worked on Land Cruisers his entire career. He too is a Mud member. I have receipts for all work performed. He re-zeroed the speedometer and I have 13,600 miles since engine rebuild. I park it in my garage and there is no leaks at all. I drive this 40 every day. List of additions and features: Power steering from FJ60 2 1/2" Old Man Emu suspension 55 amp alternator original Toyota mat in front engine de-smogged transfer case rebuilt (checked out & new seals)...
Value ?, 1970 Fj40
I am looking at this 1970 FJ40. I have always wanted one and found this one in a mans yard. I asked him if he would sale. He said he would take $11,000. Is it worth it? The body seems solid. All original. Nothing missing. He has hub caps etc. Has been setting up and not running but when he parked it it ran good he said. What do y'all think? Thanks for your in put and direction. Tommy
I have a spare FJ40 that I am considering selling. There's another project that I'd like to start on but I either finish (still need to start first) this one or sell it...space limitations are a bitch. 1967 which is in amazing shape (considering). Close to complete and stock (minus the very early Downey manual steering conversion and JT Outfitters front disc conversion). About as 'rust free' as you can get, this side of the Mississippi! Bring the patina to the party and watch the ladies swoon. The color is also guaranteed to brighten you're wife's/spouse's day! See here for my build thread - Lemonade - 1967 FJ40 Pic album here --> lemonade Most are pre powerwash from when I brought it home. The good: very solid, close to complete...
Looking for an FJ-40 in nice condition in stock paint color. The less modified, the better. I would prefer a 4 speed, 2F engine in great running shape, ambulance doors, hard top. These are just preferences, not absolute wants so if you have a 40 you think fits what I'm looking for, shoot me a PM. I do not want a trailer queen, this will be a daily driver for me. Budget is not set at any specific amount per-se--I am willing to pay a fair price for what I am looking for.
