My name is Brandon and I just brought home my new (to me) 55.
I cant get it off the brain! I bought here from KingBeeIII one h*** of a nice guy.
Looking for direction, I have a little rusty 60, thought about parts off it. Needs a engine rebuild.
I have a heap of mini truck parts , thought about parts from there.
I have another 60 front end with 4.88 s and a arb.
I have a great running 350 on the stand.

I am torn on direction.
It has no motor, tranny, or t case
So?

350,turbo 350, advanced adapter, inch worm dual mini truck t case, 60 front end with 4.88s and a arb, 1989 4runner mini truck rear end with arb and 4.88s, soa lift with marlin high steer. 35 bfg all terrains.

Not pure but still alot of toyota parts,
Thoughts?
Oh and How do I post photos to the thread?

welcome to the addiction.

IMO it doesn't have to be 100% Toyota. But then again none of my Cruisers are.

Im all about the set up you're thinking of running.

if you want to link them from a website...photobucket or shutter or something its [img ] url [ /img ] minus the spaces between the [] and the img

For photos, click "Go Advanced" button under the text box down below. then click "Manage Attachments". Little search buttons should pop up that upload them to your posting. Easy.

I like stock toyota stuff but am not opposed to 350's.

Really Good 2F Complete Bolt in & Go
I am preparing to start a diesel swap into my 60. Right now She has a perfect running rebuilt 2F engine with just over 11,000 miles on it. Does not burn oil (or Drip!), starts and idles great, pulls good...well as a good as a 2f can - LOL! The carb and dissy were rebuilt with proper mods, new water pump, oil pump, and all internal parts. New Denso alt and starter, new power steering pump. All are included with engine.

Runs better than new! It is de-smogged. You can come drive it now before I remove it for the swap. I really want to sell it as a package to someone who needs to get their cruiser running properly. Because this engine runs really well. I have an H55 (Not for sale) with 3.70's and was getting 13 -15.5 mpg on average (hwy/town/dirt roads/trails).

PM if you want to check it out and test drive.

With rebuild, carb and dissy work, alt, starter and PS pump, air pump pully kit (forgot or don't want to remember it all) I have well over $4,500.00 in it.

I will also through in, 4 spare big Toyota (Black ones!) oil filters, spare hoses and belts. I'm sure a few other things I'm forgetting.

Rebuild:

Compression - Maybe a little more than stock - Runs on regular gas with no pinging at all
Cam - I found a NOS at Toyota dealer - Stock cam
Lifters - stock
Bore - +0.030
Crank - Polished only w new bearings
Block - Just lightly decked
Head - Lightly decked, stock valves and springs
Gaskets - Toyota (Including head gasket)
Internal parts and flywheel balanced by Engine Dynamics

There are no oil leaks on engine or PS pump

NOTE: Air Cleaner Does Not Come With Engine! Sorry...

Thanks have to go out to two of the nicest dudes on mud!
Doug720 & 72 shark
Without the help of these two fellow land cruiser enthusiast I would still be in the process of a 350 Piggie!
However the coarse of history has been altered 4 ever!
Long Live the Piggie
Thanks guys!

The 60 I have burns oil and is already rusty in the rear qtrs. I plan to keep it whole and drive it for the winters back and forth to work. I did think about that for a minute but have enjoyed it as a every day driver. I can get in it muddy or greasy at work and not mess up my light titanium leather in my chevy. My 4runner is on 35s and while I love it, it burns the premium fuel and cost more than the stock 60 that burns regular unleaded just fine. I want my 55 to be able to go on long trips and not have to worry about it breaking down. I also dont plan on winter driving the 55 with the mag chloride they use for snow melt around here. Sooooo although the wife said the same thing I think to preserve the pig and the luxury of my chevy tow rig I will maintain the 6o as a "work" rig.
Crazy I know but for now that is my plan.

the switch

After much debate I am aborting the 350 swap and going with a 2f.
I have not secured any of the 2F parts yet but I will be selling all the parts I have collected for the 350 swap in the efforts to fund the 2f.
I am a purist at heart and I dont wanna spend all winter fabricating. I would rather be doing things like brakes and steering and body work so come spring of 2011 I am rolling in a dependable Piggie!
So if you need Mini truck parts let me know I have them running out of my ears!

If you don't mind going up a hill in third gear with cars speeding by then do the 2F, but when I get the money I am going to be shooting for the 350. Maybe we can trade. I think that I am going to start a new thread- Is your 55 stinky? At the stop light do you get noxious gassy smells?

My 55 has no motor transmission combo at all.so not stinky.
I am not in any hurry to get from a to b.my 60 is stinky at a stop and it does not win any races but with 260000 on the original 2f it still gets me to my destination. I have Brand new advance adapters motor mounts and I have a 1987 tbi 350 from one of the local 4x4 pass tour companys blazer with 98000 miles. I did not take the time to pull the computer but I do have a new edelbrock intake to put a carb on it. The transmission was bad so I bought it pulled the motor and sold the rest for parts. I would be interested and getting rid of it.
