Jim,
Shot you a email. Ready to see your rig, as I am sure you are ready to get it back.

Your really rolling on this one, looks great. Just alittle advice! Loss the pic of the fj cruiser. Looks like your a fab man, not one of the BOLT ON mall crawler (fj cruiser) guys. This is just my thoughts. But any rig with IFS shouldn't be called a CRUISER or a toyota for that matter.

It is the wife's....Not a bad truck for her needs. That was taken on the back side of Imogene pass. Not extreme but beautiful, point taken though.

Tonight I had my buddy Doug O swing by the shop and help me get the motor positioned in the frame and he laid pretty welds for me, Pulled it burned the mounts in and reinstalled it so I can start the work on the steering box mount. Was going to shoot photos of Doug O welding but forgot the camera. Project is moving right along though, I also received the body lift, thanks 4crawler, nice work!
I will shoot some photos tomorrow so you guys have something to look at.

Ok guys the issue of gear ratio came up while in the shop tonight.
I of coarse have the factory 4.10 right now, but stashed in the corner I have a ARB locker with 4.88 gears.
The truck is a 4 speed soooooo?
4.88 or 4.10
This truck will spend its life either running back and forth to work in the mountains of Colorado, then fishing, hunting, and camping, and towing toys to Moab. Eventually I want to upgrade to the h55 5speed, but for now just the 4 speed.
Thoughts? Oh yeah, running 35x12.50x15

RPM calculator says at 60 MPH you will have
2362 RPM with 4.10 & 2811 RPM with 4.88

If you put in a 5 speed (OD!)
1889 RPM with 4.10 & 2248 RPM with 4.88

The 4.88 works great with the OD but untill you do the swap you will miss the extra gear if you do much freeway stuff.

I have 35" tires with 4.10 gears and a SBC. I think it is too slow off the line and kind of sluggish. I want to go to 4.88
I would go with the 4.88 now....or just sell them to me

.
Wondering what steering rod and idler you use on the fj60 steering conversion?:hhmm:

what do you mean by idler? i'm guessing when you say steering rod you're talking about the drag link. by idler, do you mean pitman arm?

as for gearing, i loved 4.56s with 36s on my forty

Yes,sorry pitman arm and drag link, thought i would share my ignorance tonight!
