So i found a local guy w/ an odd collection of cars local to me and low and behold hes sitting on a 1966 toyota stout pickup and a deisel 1978 hj-45 LHD w/ a FJ45 body on it and H motor.

the stout is in real good shape w/out the typical rust along the seam in the bed. The 45 however is a little rougher. Its been used for some HD transport as it has 10leaf spring packs, and some extra bracing on the frame. Also a cattle carrier resides in back instead of the stock bed. The rest of the frame is so solid it does not look like these are patches. lil bondo on the corner and some swiss cheese spots in the roof, and lower doors and floors w/ some spots of rust starting. Its been painted several times and the last reassembly of the body was not done by anyone near resembling a perfectionist. panels are off and a few screws missing. Original seats in decent shape. Deisel started w/out hesitation and idled well.

Any thoughts? (other than the bezel)

Fawk, that's a pretty good buy in my mind.

I think I'd offer 4 grand and see where it ends up. Both look to be in decent shape.

If you have the money for it, I would not pass it up. But, like UltraFJ said, try to offer 4K.

Wow! 2 of those for only 5K? You can sell the 45 a for a nice profit and basically get the stout for free...Yeah offer 4K just to show that you don't really want them. Xmas could come early for ya. Good luck!

I thought it was a great deal at first, then made into the golden unicorn in my head on the drive down there, only to find it rougher and rustier than i had imagined. The pictures sure make it look a lil nicer than i thought it was. Maybe im just still mad for passin up a truly killer deal and now my point of reference is all skewed. Keep the thoughts coming, im heading back on friday i believe.

I was first worried bout the mismatched chasis and body but it could easily be a replacement body due to rust or accident. The fenders and bib and hood did not line up but i think this could be tweaked during reconstruction after a better attempt at paint. Im sure its had a rough life on the roads of panama w/ springs and a bed like that, but a cool story none the less. Floorboards had been lined so i couldnt get a great assesment of their condition, but i did notice the cab mount at the drivers feet had pulled through like it had on my 55.

I went and looked at it with jfz80 and the truck would definitely be a project but seems to be a good base. The frame and engine were by far the highlights compared to the body.

Now that I'm looking at the pictures it looks better :D. 4k for both seems like a good deal. That stout was pretty cool and in decent shape too.

It's easy for us to be sitting in front of our computers and tell you to "Get them!"

I think we would be a lot more hesitent if it were our own money, wouldn't we?

ANYWAY, with that said.....

Do it! :hillbilly:

HOLEY SWEET JESUS!!!

The metal looks fabulous on BOTH those rigs IMO.

If you get them for a song, IMO you'll go down in history as having the sweetest deal.

opps. spoke too soon. still an ok deal considering the 45 tho...

Soooo......You bought 'em yet:flipoff2:

If he PM's me the details of the seller, you will see how easily I would cut loose with the money. :D
