Hey everybody, well I am looking to buy my first car, and I pretty much have my mind set on a 1984 fj60 . The only problem is there are not many options for lifts. So I am thinking I will do a spring over on it. I was wondering if there is a spring over kit or write up?? I think I want to be able to run 33's or maybe 35's

thanks alot

haha alright thanks. Yeah I was looking at the ome but I could only find a 2.5-3 inch kit, all the cruisers I saw with the ome still looked pretty low. What about the springover??

You're a newbie and springovers are fairly complex when done right. If you run the OME lift which is 2.5 inches you can easily run 33s. I did that for 5-6 years. It works great and is much easier than a spring over. It will be time to spring over after you've been a cruiserhead for several years.

i think you can do 4'' with ome plus bigger tires will add height as well. i dont use my lc for real wheelin so an S.O. is not the best option for me. what are your intended uses for your lc? oh and welcome:flipoff2:

ome 4" lift sua much more stable than a soa if your planing it to be a dd .I run 33" tires and no problems off road if you go the soa way don't add any leafs keep the center of gravity down low ...... just me 2 cents

It depends what you want to do with the truck. If you want to be cool and pull chicks this is your best bet.;):p

I went with OME and longer shackles and got quite a bit of lift. From what i have read on here a 35" tire is the SOA standard. You can go about anywhere with 33's.

Oh my Gawd!!!!!! I think I'm going to be sick now.!!!!:meh:

There are several lift kits available for the 60.

Most rate the OME as the best. CCOT has a kit, you can order springs from Alcan and there are others. You can gain some additional lift with extended shackles.

SOA looks the best, especially with 35's but it will be tipsy compared to SUA.

SOA is also much more complex and costly.

Do a search, do a budget and factor in your ability to do the work or farm it out.

In the end, do what you want and enjoy the adventure.

Welcome to the madness :flipoff2:

SUA- OME Heavies, extended shackles, 1" body lift, you can run 12.5x35 withvery little rubbing on a 3.75 bbs wheel. Add 1.5" wheel spacers and is not bad. I've be seriously debating the spring over thing for a number of years now. I'm not going up any taller. Bob

before you get too far into this, tru to find a couple of 60s in your area. most owners will be happy to tke you for a quick test ride. find some 60s with different lifts if possible so you can base your opinion on first hand experience, and not what you hear from others. ask ten people and you'll get ten answers. they're opinions afterall.

personally, i like soa setups. if i had to do a spring lift, i'd install OME stuff. i do it at the shop all the time.........and they work and ride great.

last but not least, and this is very important imho, figure out exactly what you're gonna do with the truck and then build it accordingly.

Thanks everybody. I have found a sew different fjs in my area, but all of them are stock except for one. It will be a dd, but i will be wheeling it quite a bit, and pulling my dirtbike around.

where do you live?

i used to tow two jet skies behind my soa 45 wagon and it was'nt the best setup. sua definetly works better for that purpose. one thig that might help would be a rear swaybar.

Any idea as to WHAT TYPE of trails you want to run when wheeling?
Rocks, boulders, fire roads/ expedition etc?
I had my rig for 8 mos when I decided to go SOA. I went on one run on an "agressive" trail and knew how I wanted to set my rig up from that experience.
However, I do not DD my rig. That is not to say that I wouldnt, but the engine power and mileage keeps it as a toy.

Well it will be mostly a daily driver, but it will also see some rocks, and some quarry trails and just some easy wheelin to. Nothing to extreme, I just want it to look and perform good. So if i do get a cruiser I will probably go with the ome 4inch with some bigger shackles and run 33's or 35' and call it good, maybe lock up the rear end or something..

thanks alot everyone ill keep you updated.

sounds like you're on the right track. hit up kurt aka cruiseroutfitters on here for the OME stuff; great prices, great guy and he's part of our little community.

ok cool, ill be sure to do that if I find a nice cruiser.
