Cam's thread (linked below) got me thinking about the fact that I needed some sliders. Cam hooked me up with a pair.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/212237-bored-so-i-made-some-sliders.html

After getting them, though - I realized that I really wanted some "bolt ons", because I am so sluggish that I would get the sliders on before I got around to my bodywork, and I might (one day) want to reinstall my factory steps.

So anyway - a buddy of mine helped me by fabbing up a couple of brackets that accept the slider shafts. The intent is that the load is handled by the top and bottom flanges of the brackets, and the bolts just hold the sliders in place.

Minor body work and paint is next.

Cam - thanks for the sliders. They really fit great. Sorry it took me so long to get them installed!

Painted Up and Done....

Cam built the sliders for me, and a buddy helped me fab up the frame brackets and the jack mount.

The whole setup came out sweet.

The sliders are really stout, and having the ability to take 'em off helped a lot with the rocker panel body work.

Couple of pictures...

Let me know what else you want to see and I'll get the camera out. Cam built 'em to my specs, but I think that my measurements ended up being (basically) the same as the set he has on his rig.

Great job, now you have me thinking.

How would it look to cap the top with treadplate, or make the entire slider out of treadplate. Not that the OEM look is the beat all end all. But it would be a nice touch.

Are gussets necessary on the 40's sliders? It's popular opnion to gusset 80 series sliders.
