Hi all,
I need to do zero point calibration. I have done it successfully before last major overhaul but for the life of me I couldn’t find the instructions anymore. Tried searching through pieces of my FSM and this forums but I just couldn’t find it. I am looking for the reset procedure that is involving the use of SST, requiring 2 x 180 degree turn with the truck on flat surface, listening to VSC beep sounds and multiple SST shorting on DLC. Not looking for the simple Techstream plug, press reset and simply turn steering wheel 5 degree left and right. That simple procedure didn’t fix my erratic VSC activation and the more elaborate procedure did fix it on my last reset.
Thanks in advance folks 🙏

If you use Techstream run the test afterward to get it to reset correctly

I have Techstream but the elaborate SST methods gave me proper reset last time I did it.

Is the CEL illuminated? Any codes? What year and spec 100 series and do you have VGRS?

Performing a ZPC in Techstream or short pin method will simply reset parameters of Yaw rate and Acceleration sensor all while the vehicle is stationary, with no steering wheel input/movement, performed on a level surface.

Is there a second step after completing this to finish the ZPC or to verify it worked?

VSC light stops blinking in the instrument panel. See procedure description and Hints here:

It’s 2005 JDM spec with 1HD-FTE and yes VGRS is equipped. There is no error code or CEL, just VSC interrupting on winding road when it shouldn’t. A couple of months ago I replaced my VGRS ECU due to steering angle sensor fault, apparently the fault wasn’t on the sensor itself. After the VGRS ECU replacement everything but the VSC are working perfectly despite two sessions of Techstream based zero point calibration I performed right after.

Coincidentally, earlier this year my friend with the exact same LC version had exactly the same problem as me regarding erratic VSC, I also performed several sessions of Techstream zero point calibration to no avail, it was finally fixed only after I did the SST method. I remember the method was involving making a couple perfect uninterrupted U turn on flat parking lot, listening to VSC buzzer sound and shorting DLC pins. It’s just for the life of me I couldn’t find that damn section of the manual anymore.

FOUND IT!!! It is actually the TEST MODE of the whole Zero Point Calibration procedure just what Mauser said on the first reply of this thread. Perhaps I have a sucky Techstream cable but my truck just doesn’t respond well to Techstream based ZPC. Thanks for all the helps folks 🙏

Did this yesterday on my 06 to center the steering wheel using the Techstream VGRS utility, then did the zero point calibration using the VSC utility. Two steps, one to reset the memory, the 2nd to do the signal check following the attached TSB.

I used my Windows 10 Surface, Techstream 14, and v1.4 cable...

Thank you for posting this. I was about to blow my brains out if i couldnt get rid of the vsc off vsc trac lights after clearing memory. TEST MODE lol
