Every 315 tire I've owned has always measure about 34.5" on the OEM wheels when new, Toyo included. Your request is a little hard unless someone has a new set right now but you should indicate OEM wheels or if a different wheel width is preferred. Also your reference to "FJ80" is a little confusing as the OEM wheel is a 15" and would not call for a 315. I'm sure that was just a typo based on your sig line.
I can't help with these new G003's as mine are 37's. But they measured true to spec on 9" wide wheels off the truck. (unweighted)
Yeah that was a typo, althoug I bet most fj80's have long stopped running 15" wheels. You could save enough money buying tires for a 16" or 17" wheel compared to a 15" wheel to almost pay for new wheels. Also, I was referring to on the truck (weighted).
Not 315's but just for some sort of gauge.. my 295/70/17's are advertised as having a 33.5 overall diameter and when not mounted i would agree but with 38-40 psi and weight on them I am measuring around 32.5" i have around 1000-1500 miles on em so far and i am very satisfied with the quietness of the tires and their traction in the snow and rain and pavement. It sounds like these shrink quite a bit when mounted on the truck. I ended up going with a set of nitto trail grappler mt's in a 315/75/16 and I am glad. They measured 34 & 3/8" when new and mounted on the truck(weighted). My last set of toyo's were also 315/75/16 and measured just a hair over 33" when new and mounted on the truck(weighted). That was a 1.5" difference between advertised size and real size. It looks like these geolander shrank about 1" from advertised to actual size when weighted.
Just an update. I'm at 9k miles and have put many long overland trips like colorado, oklahoma, etc and they have been fantastic on road and off road. They still look brand new.
yup you can fit it under there, but its not ideal. the tire will stick out/down pretty far and I definitely wouldn't do any serious wheeling with it there.
I put mine underneath temporarily for a camping trip when I needed the cargo space. That really made me push building a rear swing out to the top of my to do list.
Seriously though, nobody is running 315's with stock suspension and not rubbing. This is just common sense. I have 3 inches of lift on my front with 315's and I can and still do rub on occasion.

Has anyone put a 315 size tire underneath, but skinnier to keep things tight? That’s what I’m thinking about as I just need something in case I get a flat

The R stands for ratio of the sidewall height compared to the width.
A 315/75R tire would have a sidewall height of 9.3".
Remember there are 25.4mm in 1"
315(.75)=236.25.
236.25mm/25.4 = 9.3".
The last # is the wheel size.
So a 315/75R/16 would be a tire that is 12.4" wide. Than you double the sidewall height of 9.3" for a total of 18.6". Than add the wheel diameter, 16" and 18.6". This gives you a total tire height of 34.6".

OK thanks for that I appreciate it. What I’m asking is in terms of getting a tire underneath an 80 series that maybe isn’t as wide but has the diameter any thoughts on that or successes?
A good search term for you to use is "pizza cutter" for the type of tire you are describing. The search results will provide a lot of past discussions on this topic.

Looking at replacing my BFG KO2 that have some cracking between the thread lugs. And having read everyone's comments on these tires I think these will be the replacements for the KO2.
But does anyone have an updated reviews? Last post was 13 months ago.
Mine are still fine. Will go back on soon for the summer. No issues. No real complaints. Not significantly better or worse than any other tire I’ve run.
