Bumping this as I am specifically considering moving to this tire in the near future. Really curious about @Corbet and @RayRay27 thoughts as see conditions similar to mine. I would assume by now both of you have some more driving.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I love them. They're loud but that's expected from an MT but my 80 isn't my DD, its purpose built and I accept it for what it is. I rotate them religiously with the spare to maintain constant wear and after about 5000 miles I still have well over 17/32" tread left. Off-road the tire just really shines. It flexes so much better then my previous duratracs and just bites in. Deep snow traction seems to be pretty good as well. A few weeks ago a group of us did some backroad traversing in the pawnee grassland area in NE Colorado and found ourselves in some muddy areas and the Yokohomas just spit the mud out of the treds and don't pack at all.

For the price and the performance that have seen from them they're pretty hard to beat.

I'm considering these as well, they look great too. Would you mind measuring the tires mounted up on your truck? Curious if they run true to size.

What size are you gonna run. I have 315 75 16s on now. When I got them they measured close to 34.8 inches eye ballin. I can measure when I get home tonight.

This is what Discount had on their site for product info.

Thanks,

I pulled mine off back in November in favor of my studded Duratracs for the winter. But had no complaints while running them. I found them to be quiet for a MT.

I just put a set of (4) 35x12.50-17 on my LX. I’ve always been an MT/R guy but these were too good a deal to pass up and I am very pleased with them so far. I’ll report back long term. I DD my truck and put on quite a bit of highway miles so I will be rotating and balancing often at Discount Tire.

I agree with @Corbet I use a set of Cooper ST Pro 35" for offroading and swap these on for my city driving and they are definately quieter. We have only had a couple inches of snow this year, so not hard tested; however, so far, very happy with them.

I wonder how does it compare to Toyo Open Country MT. I am on my 2nd set. Very robust tire, I just wish it was lighter. Sidewall strength is one of the best IMO the other super side wall tire would be Goodyear MTR. I did 5 tire rotación and only lasted like 45k kilometers. Still could have done another 10k kilometers but I don’t like to get tire that far down.

I wonder how does it compare to Toyo Open Country MT.

My previous tire was the Open Country MT. My local tire supplier is both a Toyo/Yokohama dealer as his primary lines. I also had good luck with my Toyos until the very end when I started to get bad cracking between the tread lugs. Tire dealer reported better tread life from his fleet customers (oil/gas trucks). And quieter ride. Per that recommendation I ponied up for mine. Its hard to recall what my Toyos sounded like new but the Yokohamas were definitely quieter than the worn out Toyos. (they wore very evenly). My non-oem exhaust is far louder than the tires.

Just for reference other MT's I've run are the original MTR on both my 40&60. And the General Red Llabel Graber on the 80.

well, I decided to buy a set of these. I'll let y'all know how they turn out. I'm waiting on my 3 inch lift kit from Dobinsons and once I get it all together I'll be making a thread with updates. (hopefully by end of week next week).

I bought the Yokohama's about a month ago to replace my Toyo MT's. They only have about 1,000 miles on them, so I can't comment on longevity but they feel way nicer offroad. Toyo's did not flex enough for my liking. The ride in general just feels better overall on-road and off.

The lens is as clean as its gonna get. It got some crap on the inside of it and it is what it is. Here's a few shots taken with my female accomplice's phone. I did end up throwing some spacers in above the coils for the time being because it was rubbing a bit, so it's a little taller in these pics than the previous shot.

We headed up some fire roads today with them aired down to 14 pounds, and they are just buttery smooth, even over rough washboard sections. I'm not sure if it's the tire design or just the size, but they're way smoother up that road at the same pressure than the 285s I have on my '95. Still, though... no real off road in yet. I'm looking forward to really getting them out there on the trail.

These are the first set of 35s I've had on any vehicle, and so far, I'm sold on the bigger tire. Even at the elevation we have here in UT and even with the stock gears.

What rear bumper is that?

Edit- NM I figured it out

I am running them since last September.

I get flat spots when they are cold and sitting. Takes 2-5 miles for them to warm up and smooth out.

Just pulled a big nasty chunk of metal out of one the other day, no hole.

They hook up good in the rocks.

Cheers

Good to know. I'm not sure if this actually works but one of our dealerships over inflates their tires to avoid flat spots. So I'm assuming you don't drive your 80 too often so it may be worth trying if you have an air compressor

I drive it daily over 35 miles.

I am not going to over-inflate my tires. I own a Land Cruiser shop and to me that sounds like some silly dealership stuff right there.

Thanks for the tip but I will pass on that. Flat spots don’t bother me but to some they might so I stated it.

Cheers

Lol that's what I thought too, cars sit in one spot for 40 plus days so they're desperate. But that blows my mind that you get flat spots daily driving it. Luckily I live in Texas so hopefully it is the cold causing them.

Only below freezing. It sits for 12hrs and that’s when I notice it the most.

Cheers
