I have an opp. for 4 Yoko Geolander HT S 285/75/16's w/ 300 miles on them for $500. Or getting (4) Terra grapplers w/ 4k miles, 2 that have cupped poorly due to a bad front end, for $200 so grab another 2 and I'm even.
OR the PromComp buy 3 get one free. The tires on right now are Avon Ranger's ? 265/75/16 M & S so I want to upsize but I am not putting out the major bread for Michelin LTX's

I would check tread depth of the new terra grapplers with the 2 old/better ones. They old ones probably look great next to the cupped tires, but there may be more tread gone than you realize. If the difference between new and used it too drastic. The new tires wear may catch up to the worn tires than you would like.

Why are folks switching tires so quick may be another question you may want to ask?

we got some TGs for the 100. Largely based on an excellent rating by consumer reports. I have to say, though, that they do look like they have softer compound than most, based on very noticeable rubber marks on pavement, our garage etc. They also smelled a lot when new. Curing issues perhaps? Will be able to tell better about wear when they'll have a bit more miles.

just on fyi on the HTS tires... they wear very well.. but they lack alot in the onroad traction area. i put them on the wifes passport and is constantly slipping and sliding on wet roads. they were a great price new and got initial great reviews but i was very unhappy with them. She will be getting some new michelins soon.

i just put on the TG's on the cruiser 285's and love them so far.. quiet on the road and so far fairly smooth.. not ltx ms smooth but good nonetheless. out the door they were around 700 bucks new.

I say both are overpriced. Given the safety importance of tires, why not spend the extra and get a new set of good tires. Looking at Tire Rack, you can get a Khumo A/T for $119 each, General A/T for $122, and Yokohama AT-S for $134. Shipping will run about $80, install about $60, so you could have brand new tires for $620 or so.

I like the price of the HT-S b/c the guy was a wrench turner who just got wrecked in an accident and the tires aren't enough for his other rig which has 315"s. Saw them last night and they look mint. $500 mounted and balanced and on my rig for $500. The ProComp deal is $193 per tire($580 + mount, disposal, and extra b.s.)The Nitto's, know nothing about but have heard they're soft. Looking for my 2nd set of sneakers here for the winter so not looking to blow $800+

Powdah,

Try Unsertire.com (not affiliated), I just bought a set of Nitto's from them and they had good service and the shipping was free for ground. Total price should be $532.68 for the 285/75/16's.

So far I like my terra grapplers, I was back and forth about the Revos and even the Duen Grapplers but in the long run for what I use the truck for and what I had to spend the Terra Grapplers were the only choice.
