If anyone has any rough measurements for the frame engine amounts we would really appreciate it. Also, I've seen different installations for the frame brackets....does the frame bracket "flat" area that attaches to the engine bracket go up or down?

We are using the Advanced Adapter's engine mounts.

I know you had a couple transmissions, did you have a spare transfer case?

Pm'ing so not to clutter someone else's thread :)

New motor mounts.

Disregard the Air Filter cover. it is a 350 not a 440. Just seeing how it looks.

Finalizing the motor mount locations and transmission mount this weekend.

Also traded my old engine and picked up some really nice seat covers and a few extra parts

I am having a little bit of an issue with the VSS adapter. I started a separate thread. Any help would be appreciated. SBC 5.7 TBI Swap / VSS Help needed

are you planning on using the OEM crossmember and mount under the adapter? if so, i would use the rear crossmember to locate the motor mounts... assemble motor-trans-adapter-tcase, mount it to the rear crossmember and bolt up the crossmember. this will locate the front motor mounts and save you the trouble of having to fab up a rear crossmember.

i don't think it matters which way the brackets are mounted, and, in hindsight, it seems like they might be stronger if mounted the other way (so the "platform" is on top). are you using the scab plates? and i think it's recommended to orient the engine one bolt hole to the driver side to aid front drive shaft clearance.

disclaimer: i am a garage hack and have only done one engine swap in my life, so take the advice for what it's worth!

@xxfullsailxx Yes we copied you pretty much exactly. We are using the OEM crossmember with spacers mounted in the stock location. I ended up having the same issue with the transmission mount. I got the one from summitt. Will probably end up cutting it in two.

We ended up putting the brackets up like everyone else. They are too high other wise.

Thanks for your thread. It has been our general road map for the process so far.

once i raised my motor with the additional bushings on the motor mounts i was able to remove the crossmember spacers. there is only a 1/4-1/2 inch of space between the top of the t-case and the underbody, but it seems to work. i still have the toyota mount that i'd like to get installed one day, but i think a body lift would be needed.

keep it up! will be curious to see how the electrical and fueling goes...

No body lift needed... what I saw one guy do was move the frame mounts to the position he needed, then created a spacer that went between the frame and the tranny crossmember that would basically "shim" the crossmember down enough to fit the new tranny properly.

So how come you went with the 700R4 instead of the 4L60E? Any particular reason or just that is what was with the engine or was easy to find?
Any idea on what shifter you are going to use inside? Seems like a lot of guys use the Lokar Midnight series for their trucks but that is usually with the 4L60.

We found a really good deal on a Chevy crate motor and GM remanufatured 700R4 on Craigslist. My dad was able to go and checkout the engine / transmission running before it was pulled. PO stated that combo had less than 40,000 miles. From what I can tell I believe him. Engine was very clean and not much sign of wear.

We are going to try and fabricate a linkage and hopefully use the stock Toyota shifter, if that does not work I will probably go with the Lokar.

It has been a while since the last update. Still plugging away. Figured I would share a few pictures

Rewiring the whole truck. Both engine and chassis harness.

Welding in a patch on the core support.

Cleaning up fenders in preparation for putting front clip back together

Starting to look familiar again
