I was up in TN wheeling this past Sat and shattered yet another rear axle I thought these things were supposed to be strong. Even worse I only have the stock 2f

Stock rears? Perhaps its time to step up to the Poly Performance HD's.

Yeah I guess I will call first thing monday and get them in. I just did get the rear end 4 linked and air shocked and now this oh well

General rule: they dont break if parked.

fawk parkin em!

ive busted 2 of em! still have a half of each one as a trophy too!
Howdy! Yea, I've got one of those Trophies, too. But mine happened in a Dr's parking lot. At least you were wheelin!! I'm now runnin' my spare, but I'm saving up my MT beer cans to get a set of Poly axles and do a rear disk brake setup. John

I would love to have the full floater but if I am going to take and spend that much on a axle plus have to buy chromos I would just buy a rockwell rear and run two stubs in it or take a 9" and cut it down to narrow it up. I still have yet to figure out what toyota was thinking puting that c-cliped axle in I would noit mind having a 80 rear but then again here we go back to spending all that money and on top of that having to put my 4 link back on the new axle so I am going to just stick a set of polys in and call it a day. I wish bobby long made a set but I guess the polys will do.

Good Question

So who is the sorce for the Poly's ???

I called and spoke to poly today and they were wishy washy about there own axles standing up to my 37's under strain and that made me leary of running them. He said that they most def would not withstand 42's at all. I am wondering if there is anybody else that makes any.

Dana makes a good one ;)

Yeah and that is what is looks like I am going to do I am not going to keep sinking money into a piece of a axle I will just try and find me a dana 60-2 and keep it at that

No they do not break that easily.

Chances are, if you break a axle on the street, it was damaged elsewhere and barely hanging on....

do they really break that easily?

yup.

my first one busted on the street and my second broke minutes after beating the hell out of her trying to climb a slick rocky ledge (which i made it over BTW)

take a 14 bolt, dana 60 or 70 and shorten one side. Not very hard to do, resplining one axle isnt too expensive. the 14 bolt detroit is the cheapest.

two 14 bolt short sides are even cheaper..

Before looking into resplining and cutting look for a dana 60 out of a late 60's early 70's j4000 they are a narrowed up pretty close so is a 14b out of a bread truck I think they both measure around 63ish

what brought up the narrowing?

im so lost...
