Stop laughing.

Exploratory, as I'm curious what, if any, options exist in the US, before looking elsewhere.

After an in depth review with metal man and seeing what all is involved with the swap, it's worth investigating further, to me, so if anyone has a line on, please advise.

Since we had the 72 substructure exposed, I posed a few ideas from a rear upper hatch with frame to match the doors, to a frameless glass, swing gate, all of which is doable, but can't help but come back to this option being the most desirable...all on the 76, of course.

dead sexy if you ask me, but the framed out lift gate is a viable option in mind mind as well;) had a few movements stewing over that notion:p

The amby doors are the way to go. I wish I had them, but too late to consider at this point. They solve most of the probs we face with the rear glass issues. My .02

I don't like the gutterless look, something not right about it.

We had Jeep station wagons with tailgates and two carryalls with the doors, when I was growing up. We liked the tailgate alot more for camping and working off of. For a kid the doors were heavy to open, etc. but, better for getting at something in the truck.

Alot of extra work for those doors.

Get off your arse and get to work then.

Going to go buy Accent in a few hours, as Mike's the only one I know that still has a 60 in Tulsa.

There's no way that any aspect of an 80 upper gate could be incorporated, as it's like all new Toyota's that lack the gutter, so the hinges orient differently.

Was looking at the rear swing gates on the FJC and GX and they show promise, as far as orientation, if all other efforts fail. I could be happy with a fixed glass swing gate, as it wouldn't appear any different than OE, except the framed glass, and thinking the lack of motor and mechanism's weight may offset the weight of the frame.

I can't say how much reinforcing would need to be done to the gate at the hinge attachment point, but without all the crap in there, there's plenty of room.

Me either on gutterless. Not sure what years, models, or destinations were like the one in the pic, but seems not prevalent on any.

I hear you on extra work and I've a lot of time to think about it, but don't have need for operable rear glass and weighing options for an alternative to the weatherstripping.

Check out the lack of gutter on the sides of this '76.

One less thing to rust out, I guess.

Shaved! Just like I like my... (never mind)

That would be sweet!!!

I think Andre (dieselcruiserhead or something similar) had a rear cut (rump roast?) for a amby-door Pig over in SLC at one time.

Haven't seen Andre over here in a while.

Do it!
