A little bit more on the Chick'n
now to get the fuel and electrical sorted out.

All of the emblems are there. Some of the mounting pins are broken, but I have them all, maybe a couple extra from the '75
Still trying to figure which (fuel/vent) hoses go where, and weather to run a stock fuel pump(around $110) or replace the electric one that is on there(around $30)

I've got no headlights, either. checked the bulbs before I installed them and both elements in both lights work, just not getting power. Haven't checked power out of the switch, yet.

Some of the front marker lights work, I think I may have some bad bulbs there.

Flashers come on but don't flash, but I don't have any rear lights hooked up yet, so hoping that is the issue there, should be.

I just ordered a new mechanical fuel pump.
I think I figured out where all of the hoses go so tomorrow I will get some fuel line and hook them up.

Has anyone had to get a drive shaft re-centered? I thought i was having a problem with a u-joint but apparently the problem is coming from the drive shaft.

re centered? ?? as in straightened.

I'm not really sure what they mean by re centered but I'm guessing it needs to be straightened out. What could cause this other than hitting something?

I am assuming your are referencing having it retubed and balanced. I've done several in the past and most heavy truck brake shops do this. Might want to check a few of those shops along 26 near Summerville or the diesel repair place on Dorchester. I had a contact but they were in Raleigh, NC

Just once I would like to do some mainetence without something going wrong.

This time it was something that should have been simple. Just replacing the starter, a couple of connectors and two bolts, what could go wrong with that?

I get the truck on jackstands and take the tire off to gain access. Remove the connectors and the top bolt no problem. Go to remove the bottom bolt and can't find it. I look at it for a minute and realize that someone managed to break the head off the bolt.

I figure I should still be able to wiggle the starter off to get access to the broken bolt to remove it. Nope, of course the lower mount on the starter is threaded. So I will have to get the bolt out before I can remove the starter. :bang:

I managed to get a few lights working today, the plugs on the back lights are wrong, so I'll need to change some of the wires.
The tail lights come on when it is reverse, and one brake light comes on when the parking light are on.
At least the wiring is working.
Took a part the front lights, cleaned them, and replaced the bulbs.
No headlights yet.

lol...I feel your pain Soju, I was trying to change my starter but they put the 2 battery system in and I just thought it would be a simple thing now going to have to unhook both batteries (didn't want to) also seems to be leaking oil (GRRRR) I'm thinking its the synthetic oil and my taking the revs to 3500 (lol). ok back to crawling under the beast, I just needed to vent

Keep in mind you can also get contacts and plunger from autozone or napa. Super easy to do and 99% of the time the issue. Otherwise you are just dealing with a motor.
