Hey ya'll, just asking if you can give me any feedback on this photo? Does it look like they did something to cover rust that will cause trouble later? I know if they used something that seals in moisture it will make a bad situation worse. I can't tell what they did and don't want to travel to see the rig if it's obvious there's a cover up job here.

I would only trust that the photo shows a lot of entombed rust.

I would avoid that truck. If they use a tar-based, hardening coating, it will eventually be worse than if they did nothing. Clearly an east-coast truck. Whether it's a disaster might be shown by other photos.

Thanks @SteveH that's what I was worried about. It is an east coast rig.

You can usually disqualify a 100 just by looking at it's location history. Don't need no photos. On east coast I'd disqualify anything north of Virginia
As a Marylander with a 100 that spend its entire life in Maryland ...

... I agree 100% 😅

I would trust it only if owner said it was rusty and it was painted to cover the rust.

It's obviously a cover-up job, question is how bad is it underneath...from what I can see, there are some areas that are "flakier" than others.
At the very least, it's an "inspect in person" situation. I'd like to see the underside behind the rear axle and I'd like to see the lower portion of the rear quarter panels under the rear bumper cover.

I wasted plenty of time looking around here, just source one from elsewhere. If people don't post undercarriage pics I didn't even look further into the truck.

Rex nailed it

Definitely a cover up job. Judging by the lack of any smooth surface on the frame, it had some serious corrosion before being painted over.

nope. its hiding rust

Based on that ONE photo... you can't really tell if it is a paint-over or some one has cleaned up the frame and then painted over it. Is the finish a dry semi-gloss or a tacky/oily substance? Is there any "painted over" scale build up? Do you have any more images to share? Have you crawled under the truck to examine it yourself? If not, can you have a PPI done? I have personally treated hundreds of frames for oxidation and corrosion, some customers just wanting a painted finish... that ONE image does look like work was done, but without further inspection... it's just a guess. Check the vehicle history, as previously suggested... that will give you more information upon which you can decide if to purchase.
