1993, White on Grey Leather, 239k, Everything seems in fairly good condition. Cosmetically perfect, and as far as my limited mechanical knowledge of this things everything looks to be in check. What kind of life can i expect out of this vehicle. Price is 6500.

There is also a 1995 with 235k, a little rougher condition cosmetically but both seem mechanically sound. Price here is 7100.

Any comments?

Those are not great prices, really. Add a couple thousand and get a 93 with 100k on it, for instance. Either one come with FULL mechanical records? Otherwise it's really a crap shoot at that mileage. I'll have no problem driving mine anywhere at 250,000 but it's because I know what's been done along the way.

if either has lockers might be worth it if the price drops 500-1000 otherwise look for lower miles.

Offer them $3k.

Wouldn't touch for more than 5k unless perfect and complete service records (ie. birf repack, etc)

Price is way too high for the mileage in both cases. Keep looking and you'll find something in the 1XXk's for not much more.

Think I already found a better deal, but havent determined the condition of the vehicle yet. Will go take a look at it on Friday.

1994, Gold on Tan Leather, 157k, From talking to seller he describes it as perfect exept for an exhaust leak. 7500 is asking.

I have had my mind set on getting an LC now for several weeks and just havent had the chance to actual find a good deal that would work out. Starting to get anxious.

Looking forward to interacting with everyone here though! Cant go wrong with a group of guys that welcome you with a classic :flipoff2: .

Man, I wish those prices were too high in my area. Portland, Oregon prices for the 80s are ridiculous. I've been watching casually for a few months and a bit more seriously as of late. Nothing I've seen has lockers, the mileage is much higher, the condition is so-so, and the prices are crazy. Don't people know what crappy gas mileage these things get? Everybody should be trying to get rid of these things. Ok, wishful thinking.

I looked at one at a local dealership a few weeks ago -- 210K miles, oil leaks all over the place, ok interior, broken power antenna, crappy tires, no lockers, blah, blah, blah. The salesman said the price was $8995, but that with the work that it needed, he would probably go down to $7000. A week later, it was in the AutoTrader for $11995.

Since then, I've seen several 93-95s in the $8-12K range, but nothing less.

Just cause it's listed in autotrader at $11995 doesn't mean a dealer won't take much less (7-8k) for it. There's a 96 w/165k on portland craigslist listed for $8325, don't know if it has diff locks.

2 Words...

Be Patient.

I am now kinda kicking myself for not waiting for lockers. But the avalability of 80's is really slim up here, and what I did find was a 1 P.O. from Texas, so it was nice and clean...sans lockers..

The gold color is actually Champange (like the bubbly stuff) great color, the the interior is dark brown most of the time. later robbie

I purchased my 80 about 3.5 years ago when it had I think 15?,??? on it.

I may have payed too much at $10-12K, but, it's been a really reliable rig and I don't ever regret getting it. It needs some leather work, but, other than that it's still great.

Double Dog Ditto on that!

I was gung ho on a few Cruisers that seemed like good deals, and I almost bought one that in hindsight might not have been a great idea. A couple of days later, I purchased a 96 FZJ80, stock w/lockers, w/ 96k miles and in Beeeeee-yoo-tee-ful, never crashed, never seen dirt, regularly and lovingly maintained condition from a really sweet, honest and true blue soccer mom for $10.5k.

Patience, my man...wait for the kizmet.

Don't be scared away at asking price from either a dealer or private party. A lot of people only look up there vehicles in the blue book and don't take into consideration their "market" value. A price is only relative to what someone actually will pay for it. My 60 I recently purchased from a Chevy dealer was originally listed at $7995. And it was on the lot for a while. Waited it out a bit and got it for $2600. I had to put a few bucks in it for a valve job and a new intake manifold, so about $500 later I have a good running cruiser with a nice body/interior for about $3100. Still half of asking price.

How true should the asking price be to Kelly Blue Book? For instance if KBB is saying 7500 on a 94 Burgundy, Tan Leather, 155k, "Good Condition", no lockers...then could anything constitute paying their 9000 asking price?
