Saw a wood trim 60 or 62 on Pleasantburg. Didn't get a look at the front. Looked in decent shape. Anyone know about this? Was the wood factory???

Yep, that's factory . . . poor man's bling.

Basically, its simulated wood grain contact paper - - ugly as hell, but factory. I think they were taking styling ques in 89 from Chrysler. Sort of like the chrome bezeled and bumpered 40s and 45s of the '70s, usually sold to middle east thugs.

You need to photo shop that pic before I puke . . . . worse than a gay 2F. :D

Gehn,

I think I also detected the "wobble" in the driver's side mirror!

I believe decals in the 60-62 series (and that's what they are) were OEM in other countries and dealer options in US. (Remember the '80s? Big hair and parachute pants?) Factory or dealer, I'm just not a fan of the fake wood . . . now real wood, that would be cool . . . like a Willys woody wagon.

I've seen this guy at the gas pump. It's a 62 with about 230k and some nasty rust on the bottom of the right side. Super nice guy.

It was an option. Dont know details, but there are several on MUD who has it. Chicago ? has it on his SOA rig.

I don't post on here much. But I do read and learn. The 62 in the picture is mine. It's an '88. I travel Pleasantburg to and from work. It has some surface rust on the doors. They do need to be replaced. It has 140k miles on it and I bought it off a lady for $2k in late January of this year. Haven't had to do much to it yet. Some nickel and dime stuff. I drive it everyday. I am not a huge fan of the wood grain but I'll decide if I am going to keep that when the day comes to repaint it.

Ha, ha. Don't sweat the negativity on the wood grain. You bought a Land Cruiser and as a result got a superior vehicle!!

Welcome and stick around!! :)

I'm not going to sweat it. I'm proud to drive it. It's my toy and I'll restore it along and along as $$ comes in.

Sorry IslickMr

I am the one who doesn't like wood grain decals. Come to the meeting tomorrow night and I will buy you a beer AND pay your dues for this year! :D My dislike of wood grain decals is Freudian-- my mom had some fake woodgrain on her Ford town and country wagon and I have never gotten over that.

If I had gotten a deal likes that on a 62 I think I could have overcome my edible complex. :princess:

My bad!

I guess you would call it almost a pewter color. Can see where clear coat is gone. Will need a paint job.

Turkeypen...no apologies are necessary. It's not show room condition but it is all stock. I have been to a couple of meetings as a guest of another member. Not sure if I can make it this time but I am going to join Upstate Cruisers. Everyone always seems very nice. I am by no means a gear head but I like seeing the different cruisers and learning from you guys. So keep that beer on ice. I will take you up on that one of these days.

Would LOVE to find a pig to work on. Keep your eyes peeled for a cheap one.

Whoa there, steady on mate. I'm not sure you know what you're letting yourself in for here.
Best talk to your therapist a bit about this leaning. He might be able to steer you to the appropriate 12 step group.
At least read through a few hundred pages of FJ55 Resto posts.
