Won't start after trying valet key (1 Viewer)

well crap, I tried a key without a fob I had just to see if it would start . It would crank but not start, which is kinda what I thought would happen but now it wont even crank with the master key! Dang what have I messed up and how do I fix it ? I tried searching but couldn't come up with this same situation. Thanks for the help

Try disconnecting the battery for like 30 seconds, see if that resets something in the ECU.

Thanks I disconnected the positive cable when it happened but may not have left it off long enough. I'll give it another shot

Thank you !!! That did it. Left it off a couple minutes and it fired up. I won't do that again , thanks for the help

It could be that your valet key is not programmed to your truck, like they had a spare made to do the locks but not the ignition.
I'd try the valet key again, if the problem happens again then I'd program it.
