so if u saw my post on chat u know my #$%#@ won't run all of a sudden. Ran like a top to the bank but i did notice it was harder to start and it was idling at 1000 rpms all of a sudden. When i cut it off it diesels once before cutting off also. Now it will not start unless pedal is floored and will not idle unless pedal is still floored and tries to die anyway. Very rough idle.

1. Gonna check pump but is it on my block or tank? Haynes says block but picture says tank!

2. If not the pump then what??:bang:

Check fuel filter, and sight glass on carb to see if fuel is getting to it.

will it fire off of carb cleaner?

carb cleaner made no difference at the bank. I wonder if it isn't my fuel pump. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I worked around the house and took the super rare nap. Now it is thundering outside.

Check and make sure the idle solenoid is working. You should feel it click when you turn the key to on. Idle solenoid is the little round device on the side of the carb closest to the valve cover. If it's not clicking check the fuse. If that's good I'd check for a hose that may have come off.

Like they said, idle cut solenoid and if the choke makes a differnce (ie wants to run fully pulled out) you may have a nice vacuum leak.

i am running a weber 38 dges. The carb has an electric choke. I still have not had a chance to diagnose it yet. I wonder if my fuel pump isn't dead. I just havent had time to look yet.

simply acts like it isn't getting fuel.

when you said the rpms at idle went to 1000 it makes me assume air leak.

definately sounds like no fuel.

I'd check all hoses to see if one came off or broke, being that i just had all those hoses off to adjust your valves i wouldn't be suprised if one didn't jump off or break

nothing is jumping out at me but i will send a pic later so everyone can look behind me. It is not the fuel pump.

i'm not the best at getting car carbs in tune. On a small engine i can tune them to perfection.

Once you get to the point you want someone to do it and do it right the first time there is a guy that works with me that has been doing carbs for the past 40 years.

He also does AC!

Much cheaper than most shops as well, i'll check with him but i'm pretty sure i can get him to give UC discounts. Not sure of how much, just depends on what the job needs.

Make sure the choke is opening... it's fully closed in the pic...I'm guessing it's cold.

i believe it's a vac or mechanical operated choke. It opens once the vehicle is started. I'm not 100% on if it is working right or not!

You really need a HAMOM. You might actually have Chuck beat on that setup. Most likely the carb needs to be rebuilt. It's not terribly hard. I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to swap the locations of the alt and A/C.
