Ok ok ok I took all the comments from here and IG/FB and have the first product design ready to start cutting metal.

With this design, and keeping it as compact as possible, four Carling switches is a no go. But I can get four Toyota switches. Anyway, with three Carling switches I have added a second 1/4-20 threaded hole because I’ve figured out how to strengthen it and it utilizes a third hole at the top. Since I have to make a third hole I went ahead and added a hole to all four corners so that YES it can ambidextrous and fit both LHD and RHD trucks.

I’ll throw up a link and pricing probably tonight. Not sure. In the meantime I’ll be finishing the Toyota switch plate and potentially the 2” gauge plate. TBD.

Are you going to anodized these? Also, are you going to include a 4th dummy screw for the ocd crowd?

These will be CNC 6061 aluminum and anodized black. Logo will be discreet. Its funny you mentioned the 4th screw. Yes it drove me nuts as I was taking the pics but I was in a hurry. Fourth screw will have a nut more likely and of course its just for cosmetics (spare).

LOL, it was almost a rhetorical question. I'm not surprised it bothered you :). I'm liking the wsy it looks. Not sure on which style I'd want yet. Eventually I'd like to get a subtank and it'd be nice to have a 2" gauge, but I'm sure I've seen carling sized led gauges too.

Well, again, assuming you have one that fits the early gen dash, you have yourself a purchase from me. Thank you for taking the feedback and making something that will fit all the 'wrong side drive' cruisers. I still have to diagram and execute what Im goin to do with your qpm, so I really dont need this. But I keep buying everything you make for future Daniel.

MAGA...making ashtrays great again

:hillbilly:

This seems to be a great product as it would be a perfect place to mount your navigation stuff on without the hassle of bulky arms coming from the seat screws.

According to toyodiy.com (link to parts number #74102-60020 does not work) the first and second gen of 80 Series dashboards should have the same ashtray. But only LHDs are listed searching with the parts number of my '94 80 Series Turbo-Diesel.

To maintain maximum flexibility, I'd go with Toyota switch knockouts with the option of 1 knockout being bolted in fitted with a 1/2-20 insert, a Scangauge II mount below the switches and a complimentary Wit's End Nail Clipper to file the switch slots to fit Carling switches! Viola, everyone is happy!

I'm not really kidding at all, that would be my ideal setup. :p

Now you're not even trying!

That 4th hole is calling out for a highly specialized insert configured with a matching screw head that the user would push in to reveal a pop-out handle which, when extracted from the hole, would reveal a removable Wit's End Space Pen or an itty-bitty capsule with a spare $100 for emergency fuel. Like a Note 9 stylus. Waste not, want not.

I'm in for one of these, I like the switch idea...just can't commit to which switch type. Probably Carling given all the custom label options.

When you get done messing around with a small switch panel, you need to build one of these in Mass Production because I've changed my mind already and want to have a removable panel to rearrange my switch count and layout! :p
