I wish I had more time to devote to this but I’m trying. Here is proto #2 and it’s looking pretty good function-wise. Now I just need to take care of the asthetics that bug me. Dunno.

Four Carling switches may not work but I order up four to test with just in case.

To reiterate, the production version will be aluminum not 3D printed.

My rammount is always in low range.:censor::flipoff2:
Besides the phone is totally out of the way right there. It's almost Perfect.

Yes.

Joey gives no love to the best model years of 80s. Only the fancy, luxury models from 95-97. :frown:

I hoping a pourpose built scan/Ultra gauge mount comes out of this. Seeing how I need it to fit in an OBD1 dash I'm not gonna hold my breath. LOL

@NLXTACY I want to try and mount an external ham speaker using that spot. The mount/base of the speaker I'm using now (Yaesu MLS-100) fits right in the ashtray hole just haven't been able to figure how to mount it till now. I have the speaker stuck behind the hi-lo shifter using double sided sticky tape for n

Any thoughts around adding bolt holes to the top of the plate so us rhd folks can rotate the threaded insert to the other side? Mostly concerned about that when you get to the early model version.

edit- Or just make the plate reversible.

Hmm, I honestly hadn't thought thought of that. Let me think about it some more.

I have a old style dash, and it's RHD, any idea if you're solution is going to work for me?

I'm fairly certain the ashtray assembly is common to all 80s ( @beno might be able to confirm this), so in theory it should fit up no problem
Then it's just a matter of whether the configuration of switches, ram mount etc works
