Wont work. I have a 92. Different dash. Fml.

I just installed a GMRS radio that is of the same design as this CB under my factory radio. Velcrod it to the bottom of the radio and ran the mic out the dash. Works great. Don’t see the CB at all, just the mic/handheld control head.

We did it! I'm not proud that we had to resort to constant pestering to make our voices heard, but I'm glad it's happening.

This is a total shot out of left field, but any idea if either mount would work in a mini-truck? Cig lighter and ash tray are similar configuration, but not sure about mounting. What would need to be checked to verify fitment potential? I have easy access to an early 80 dash and will soon have a later dash handy to compare the actual ash tray size, but does anyone know if the mounting systems to the dashes are different?

As an ex smoker I took out the ashtray and fitted the Albrecht CB, with minimum filing of the opening it slips straight in! At a guess I would say I fitted it about 4 or 5 years ago, a basic rig but perfect for trails and fits in with the rest of the dash without looking out of place.

regards

Dave

@NLXTACY Do you have a faceplate for the sPod or just the SwitchPros? I thought I saw you mounted up an sPod in your truck recently! ;)

Bought the switches plate and trying to install it.
it was easy to remove the ashtray and the two bolts, but how to remove the upper metal holder of the ashtray?
I believe it should be removed in order to gain access to the third bolt.
Could someone explain how to do this or post some pictures?

There are little metal tabs that you press in. I can't remember if it's on the bottom or sides but it's on the inside of the metal holder

Did you remove all 3 screws that hold in the metal slide? There are 2 that are right on the lip slide that point at the roof of the vehicle and the 3rd is located halfway back on the top of the slide and screws into the dash frame

I've removed the two screws at the bottom, marked in yellow.
Can find the third one.
