@NLXTACY - re: motor mount swaps:

2 other easy way(s) to lift the motor is a cherry picker to that pick loop / FR of motor.

We used this to do my BIL’s 3.4 T4R, wasn’t nearly the heavy of motor so tilting to either side with teh 1FZ may be different.
I’m going to try this method on mine over the Winter, see myself how well I like it.

That, or another piece I made based on a VW special tool is the box tube beam that has 2 verticals down to angle iron that rides each fender bolt-up flange.

Then you have greased ~5/8” all-thread about 18” lengths hanging vertically that you use a pass-thru ratchet wrench (or a box end standard if you want to get your cardio/ arm day all in 1 shot ;) )

—Mine’s around somewhere if you want a pic, unless you know the tool I’m talking of (common to the transverse FWD crowd, you can seperate a trans from a motor for clutch jobs, etc) - I used my overbuilt home-made one on the LX450 for this job & just kept the threads greased any time I was lifting.

Neither way involved unbolting the hood, a job I avoid.

So I have been looking for a new engine, and then turbo ing it. Just cause my engine is rebuilt new head etc. But if I went turbo I would go all out. Anyone ever heard of AAA engines in Ca? they sell oem rebuilt fze engines all OEM internals etc.

A few locals have used AAA here in Chatsworth and they seem like decent folks. They ask the right questions and are building at least two engines specifically for the turbo now.

Any idea what they are doing different or specifically for the turbo?

from the conversations it’s up to the customer. One person is doing full build with oversized forged guts and the other is just doing Cometic with ARPs.

Had some time to kill so I let my little brother change out the oxygen sensors. Thing was a pain in the ass. Nuts were rusted to s***. Used a good penetrant and bought a new set of nut removing sockets. Made quick work of it. Time to replace with new.

it’s really funny you just posted that. I ordered ten for stock. Two were new (one went into my truck) and the rest were reman.

That is lower than I would have guessed. Don't think it matters, have had equally good results, but some may pay a significant premium for new.

I am very much into having a CLEAN engine compartment, and I am simply in love with yours. Nice job.
Simply amazing how the white plastic bottles look so good.

Not to mention all the effort you put into this thing.

Not to mention all the effort!

New plastic takes a engine bay to the SPINAL TAP - equivalent of “11”

Anytime you see a E30 BMW powertrain swap, new plastic make the underhood porn on the level of Tricia Helfer doing 80% pics........single best thing Canada ever gave us.

Back to family friendly, - awesome stuff Joey, I still cringe when I click this thread since I know where my wallet will someday soon try to lead me.

I even did the math on some reshuffle of vehicles I’m fielding, not for nothing.........hunh, I know the where this will end.

Well crap. Add another item to my cart for when I get home. 🤣
