What no special curved washers on those nuts, that's about as bush league as the hose clamp disaster. That's the kind of BS the domestic brands do, Mr. T. never put a bare nut on anything, they are all backed by a washer or flange head. Give it 5 years and those nuts will fatigue out the side of the can from vibrations and then where will you be. Full out catastrophe.
Just screwing with you. Still wish I could convince the wife she needs 100 more HP. We did our trip to Yellowstone with the 80 pulling probably 4400 pounds of travel trailer in August. Craig CO to Pinedale to Moran to Cody/Thermopolis back over to Rock Springs and back home. Two days going up and two back with a pull from the South gate to Bridge Bay for a camp spot change mid week. Most of the trip went well, but bucking a head wind from Rock Springs to Pinedale had us running with the pedal floorboarded in 2nd gear and 4500+ RPM to hold 60ish. Got a whole 7.4 MPG on that leg. Rest of the trip averaged around 10 MPG, pretty much what we have been getting anytime we pull the trailer. Still very annoying that the pedal input needed to hold 60-65 is right at the shift point threshold between top gear and revved to the nuts. Damn thing bounced back and forth with every little swell in the road at times. Going up I turned the OD off. Coming back I just left the OD on and hit the PWR button, gear hunting was reduced quite a bit. Nothing seemed to get hot or wonky, so I may just keep towing that way, I know the TC is not always locked, but the intermediate gearing helps.
Sylvan pass out the East gate was far more impressive(steep) than I thought it would be. Had never been over South Pass either between Lander and Farson, that was a long pull, we were just about out of power by the top, very hot day, had it shifted down and I was getting nervous, old girl seemed a little weak for a while after that, guages all stayed good though. Turbo power would have been awesome, I want one for my 5VZFE in my T100 also, it is really gutless with the same camper behind it.
