Are the corrugated areas to reduce any flexing and reduce stress on the pipe/joints or do they serve another purpose?
That's what I suspected. Excellent and well thought out execution as usual!!The wastegate is hard mounted to two planes in 3D space. The Turbine is hard mounted to two different planes in 3D space. The tolerance on the wastegate, turbo and J-pipe are varied. So in order to guarantee everything bolts up the way it’s supposed to, those two flex joints were installed in what I felt was it’s absolutely relaxed state. Meaning they aren’t pushed in any one direction. But having them there makes installation a total snap and removes potential stacked tolerance issues between components.
