Would you mind if a non-cruiser yota fourbie tags along? I'm always trying to meet up with the Michigan Landcruiser guys but they all have their events like 7 hours away. Trails up here around the Keweenaw are super fun this time of year and I've got plenty of the lesser known ones mapped!

The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned!

I love the idea! I have run trails with all sorts of trucks (yes, even Jeeps and Fords) and have had ton of fun. In fact, I have learned a lot form non-Toyota owners and have a lot of respect for their rigs and skills.

How cold is Keweenaw around Thanksgiving?

Meh, It has been snowing all week. But it isn't terribly cold or windy. I shoveled my driveway in a long-sleeved t-shirt and didn't curse once.

The more the merrier! I’d like to plan something for the spring time and would be very interested in exploring more of the Keweenaw.

Welp, it looks like I'm moving to the Menasha area for the summer. How far am I gonna have to drive to find some good trails?

You are only an hr away from. Togerton OHV park! While that's no Moab, it has enough play to scratch the itch.
Camp Sinawa is also not far and has decent trails too.

1st Name: Tom

Town/City: Kenosha, WI

Rig(s) you wheel complete with mods if any: 78 FJ40--recently purchased for the sake of cruising around town in. also have a 23 Tacoma for my daily commute/camp trips

Past rigs you built up or have sold if any: not into 4x4 building (yet), but spend a lot of time building/riding/fixing bicycles

Any special talents? : not a damn thing

Hi Tom,
Wisconsin needs more representation! Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 78 FJ40 purchase.......close all your credit cards now!. I thought I bought all the 40's in a 5 county radius . Where did you find the 40 that escaped my radar ;)

I thought Wisconsin needed more representation as well! I actually bought this one from a dealer in NC. I wouldn't encroach on your territory haha.

Tigerton is boring on a moped after a half hour. The Yoop has some places to ride as you may know. The Iron Range in MN has good wheeling if you are into terrain challenges. Getting lost in the Yoop on road/trails/tracks is fun. Same with northern MN. Past that, refer to the post above and head west.

New to the Midwest

Greetings from Saint Paul, MN. I just relocated here from Bellingham, Wa to be closer to my wife's side of the family and all the amazing public land up north (were big paddlers). I drove my 1993 FZJ80 and 1990 DLX Pickup out here (we also have a Tacoma DCLB for daily stuff). I realize the St. Paul is a state away, but I do believe this is the closest club and I need schooling on rust prevention and repair.

I've been chronicling my Land Cruiser's progress from neglect to high function in this thread back in 2018.
heres a couple of glamor shots and a portrait of me and my front diff!

see you out there..

Welcome to the Midwest, Land of 10K Lakes, and salt covered roads. Before the snow flies, treat any of your rigs with WoolWax, Fluid Film or similar products if you plan on driving them in the winter. Nice looking 80. There is a Twin Cities / Minnesota / Northwest WI group on WhatsApp called Minnesota TLC, if you use WhatsApp and are interested. Solid group of enthusiasts in the Twin Cities area.

Welcome. My best advice on rust prevention is two fold. 1. Don't drive your rigs. 2. Move far from here!

Hey all, selling my 2004 if you're interested in a local buy...

I’m sure rust proofing will be a new chapter on my build page…
