Wireless Backup Camera using Smartphone ...

Looking for positive recommendations on a wireless camera
that will work using a Smart Phone as the display.

Like to install one that I can mount on the back of my
LX470 so I can see how to back up to my Trailer.

Wow, phenomenal idea and application...but $500?? No freaking way. Honestly, its a bummer. I was excited reading and looking through their website, until I saw the price tag.

asked the same question about battery-powered cameras a while back, maybe it was in the old Electronics section. I think there were some inexpensive options identified. I did not pursue it yet, though, but will. I remember somebody mentioning a cheap gopro clone with wifi capabilities that would beat most of the dedicated systems for cost (and be useful for other stuff).

Not what you're asking for, but I've hooked up an amazon camera and monitor and tapped the reverse lights. $36 total.

I routed the wire across the headliners to the back, then through the wire loom on the upper hatch and mounted it between the two license plate lights with two stainless sheet metal screws. Not even noticeable.

Personally, I would pay quite a bit extra not to have to route any wire at all, including no power wire. And to have range that's enough to reach the rear of a trailer.

I've used the Rear View Safety Wifi backup camera system...it has good range and is durable.

This is an option if you already run a DVD/Monitor-style head unit and don't want to run video cable under the head liner:

super easy. took me 20 minutes. Most of it is mounting the camera to the back of the car.
