is the wiper arms on the fj60 compatible with other same era toyotas? be much easier to go to the junk yard and find one because im having a hard time

Did you get any answers on your question? I would like to replace my wiper arms for arms with a more modern hook on the end. Wipers for arms with a straight end (as our Landcruisers have) are much harder to find so......

4runner arms have the hook on the end and are a drop in replacement. I have ones from a 98 4runner. Toyota PN: LH 85221-35080 RH 85211-35080

What year/model landcruiser do you have?

I've got a 1981 FJ60 USA model and it has the arm with this hook on the end...which apparently you need a PhD to figure out how to remove/replace the wiper...it takes me about 3 hours (it's very counter-intuitive, at least that's my excuse) to replace the wipers blades making it arguably one of the most confusing maintenance tasks yet...

Mine is a 1990 FJ62 (USA). I know what you mean, but once you figured it out it isn't that hard to do.
Wipers with the straight connection are less and less available, so I will have to 'convert' :-)

Huh. Must be an interesting story how a 1990 FJ62 USA model ended up in the Netherlands...

So now I'm wondering if the wiper arms with the 'hook' in them are the old school kind and the straight ones are more modern...but I'm not an expert, just providing you what little information I have that might help you...

...or it could be that the previous owner of my rig had a PhD and went ahead and did the upgrade...and thereby simultaneously helping and cursing me towards a future of dreaded wiper blade changes...

You can also just replace the blades with Carquest 18-53 Exact Fit. Something like 9 or 10 bucks each and they were in stock at the first store I called. Comes with new screws, very easy swap and no screwing around with the arm and hook flip around thing. Worked for my '85 FJ60.

Got the info from this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/need-new-wiper-blades.789622/

*** I looked back and realized Macko is in the Netherlands. Probably no Carquest there...sorry. But I'm leaving this up in case somebody else needs the help.

The perceived difficulty of this task confuses me. About three weeks ago, I just walked into Autozone and bought Bosch 18 or 19" blades (cant remember, can get the part # if you'd like). They came with the necessary adaptor to fit everything onto the straight tips of the stock arms. Complete job done in less than 5 minutes while nursing a beer.

Not sure why you would want to use arms from a different model since the blades are readily available in any size stock to 19" should fit IIRC.

Problem that I have had since I got the truck is that there are points that do not make full contact with the window. So I am not sure if that is the arm tension on the windshield itself or what. This then causes chattering and skip marks on the window or in the case of the drivers side, I get a full section that is right in my line of sight that does not make contact and there is a long section that is not cleaned.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yeah I replaced mine with the 4runner blades also. The original ones were worn out and couldn't hold tension on the windshield anymore. Nice and cheap upgrade.

Gregnash, just this week I fixed the same problem you are having...not getting full contact with the rubber hitting the windshield. This is on my 60 with stock blades and rubber inserts that you slip into place.

It sounds draconian but it's not really. Remove the blades, put into a vise and bend to better fit your windshield.

A) note where the rubber is not touching the window

B) remove the 2 screws, remove that part of the arm, then slip the rubber out

C) take the metal part that you removed the rubber from to your vice and GENTLY bend it at the appropriate place. I had to slightly bend both ends.

D) the part you are taking to the vice and bending, is the part that the rubber slips into, not the main arm which stays on the windshield.

I had to go back to the truck for multiple 'test fits', but in short order it solved the issue with full contact...rubber to windshield.

Is there any chance you could take a picture of the two screws on the arm? I have a stock 60 arm and bent it as you did, but my wipers "slide on" and are secured by tension, unless the screws fell out long ago
