Greetings! I have just completed replacing my turbo charger on an HD J 81, 1991. My original Turbo charger stopped working around 340,000 km. The only reason that I have so far is that the oil inlet hose was smaller than the Toyota spec hose. Nevertheless, I found a guy in Holland with a firm called Wink 4x4 who has engineered and improved direct fit replacement turbo charger. Externally, identical to the CT26, It is upgraded with an improved compressor and needle bearings. The website is Wink 4x4 - Engineered Performance - https://www.wink4x4.com/. The proprietor, Remy Schuttert has mailed them out before. of course, I drove to Holland from Stuttgart Germany to have it installed. My truck runs quite well now and I was very happy to have this done.

There was a slight adjustment to the plunger on the fuel pump to allow a bit more fuel into the pump. However, we ran the truck before this adjustment, and the difference seems negligible.

What boost does it run? I have a Winks turbo for an FT I am building but have never ran it and have no idea what kind of boost it can do. Curious.

Cheers

Are you still happy with the turbo? Do you have any other upgrades like an intercooler? what is your boost set at?
Greg-
It has been a game changer for me. The truck is noticeably faster that it was before. No intercooler yet- I'd like one, but not ready to take the plunge yet on that. Also, no idea what the boost is set at. I'd contact Remy at Wink to ask that question. His discussion with me indicated that impeller is more precisely matched to the 1HD engine; he said that he examined a MAN diesel truck's TC and a contemporary TC from a 4 cylinder honda engine and used those two to customize the TC for the 1HD. Of note, it also uses a better bearing, and is crafted to be identical to the Toyota CT26, to better allow fitting of these into european toyotas, which, like the case of Germany, have to conform to "Technischer Uberwatcher Verwaltung" (Technical Overwatch Society) requirements to certify automotive repair and enhancement.
Given all of that, I next need to replace / upgrade my exhaust system, which cracked at the flex joint, and is now bandaged with motorcycle exhaust wrap .

Thanks for the reply; I've got a euro spec 1HD-FT and would like to get a bump in power as simply as possible. Just the turbo would be nice then I can leave all the EGR stuff and i'm not moding that as well. Remy said 0.85 bar or about 12psi is what they are set to.

Geez, 12psi may be disappointing for me. All the builds we are doing run 20-30psi.

My engine I have the Winks for is ready for big boost with many upgraded parts. Going to run the Winks though before I decide to go to something with more boost.

Cheers

I think they say you can run up to 2 bar. But that's with a boost controller.

I'd be really happy with 12 psi if that gets a decent bump in power without intercooler. But I'm looking for mild improvements.
