Hello
Wanted to ask what are your experiences with the „spray“ amount of washer water and dispersion across the front windshield in the 40 series.

In mine it squirts out the washer fluid but most actually remains in the center of the windshield rather than being sprayed to the sides. In the winter conditions now the grime and salt really is quite a nuisance and I would need a bit a better spraying behavior for a comfortable drive on the highway…

I would like to understand if mine works as to be expected for a 40+ years old rig or if there is anything that I could do to improve it… anybody else have this issue?

Thanks for your insights 👍😃

Way back in the early 90's my nozzle on the hood went bad (plastic ozone rot), anyway I bought a generic one from a local discount auto place for a few bucks. I used a hat pin in the orifice holes to aim the the spray (it's a ball joint with a hole). I have it set for highway speed at low speed it shoot high so I just bump the spray several time which spray low.

I keep my windshield and all outside glass treated with Rain X. Clean the windows really good, then apply Rain X twice. Then reapply when water doesn't bead up and blow away at 30mph. I use the Winter orange Rain X fluid year around.

I plan to adapt a pump and mount to work with the gallon jug of fluid.

I use Fog X on the inside of the glass.
I use both X's on my 4 wheeler goggles and sun glasses too.

"CH" usually means Switzerland, and if so in this case, his particular region may not use salt products for de-icing roads. Just a thought.

Toyota sells replacement nozzles.
Pump could be weak as well.

Why are you driving it in salty conditions? Toyotas coach work on these things was worse than horrible. 🤣

Sometimes it's like they tried to find places to trap salt and dirt.

Uncle Toyota still sells the hood nozzle...with a fresh nozzle and my original pump, it does about as expected. Serviceable, but nothing to write home about and on par for a 70s vintage. I can't speak to salty conditions tho...mine parks in the winter now after the now-second round of restoration. 🙃

Hi
Yeah I’m based in Switzerland and unfortunately they do use salt to de-ice the roads.
My Bj46 is my only car and to go skiing I’m using my truck every now and again. Washing the underbody down regularly helps…

My nozzle is actually sitting central under the roof, not the bonnet.
But thanks for the hints. I’ll try to adjust with a hat-pin or if not helping go looking for a replacement nozzle. 👍😊
