I’m a “want it to work as intended” kind of person. Older Toyotas are my hobby but I’ve never had an 80 before.

To be clear, I enjoy seeing all types of personalities and approaches to finding each 80’s happy place. Some are rubber neck silly, but I’m just here to entertain myself.

Do you!

P.S. I bought a new genuine valve years ago and pay it no mind except in the rare times I do need to wipe off the rear window in sunny SoCal

Was going to try to take it apart and fix but… ordered one off eBay. Toyota part.

Quick tidbit / fyi on rear washer diverters that I've found helpful. My current diverter is going on 6 years old and has stopped working a few times. Whenever it stops working I'll pop the hood and bend the hose that goes to the front squirters over so that water can't flow to the front squirters. I then will activate the rear squirter repeatedly until the diverter frees up (or whatever) and water starts to flow to the rear again.

I typically use the rear squirter every time I drive the 80 for a quick rear window rinse and to keep the gunk out of the diverter. I run full-strength washer fluid in the winters and water in the summer and wash the windshield a decent amount with the squirters while driving. The rear diverter started acting up a few years ago but hasn't stopped working more than once or twice a year and goes months without issues after I do the "fix" above.
